Half Engine light when pushing car
I've been driving my 335i around for a month now car works just fine, however when I push the car in about 2/3rd gear hard at around 4K the car goes into limp mode and then I just need to restart the car to get back to normal.
The car has 31,000 miles on it. Oil temp is right in the middle Fuel pump sounds fine it does sound like something is leaking like air when I push it though. What could be wrong? Last edited by vanondemand; 06-07-2013 at 01:05 AM.. |

I have the exact same issue - car runs just fine but get the half engine malfunction light when I hit it and I noticed over bumps sometimes..No oil level loss for last 1200 miles, how do I check for gasket leak into the plugs ?

Do you have the Vishnu Flash? I had the same issues with my PROcede. Half throttle pull in 3rd or 4th would cause half engine light.
Also, I just had my turbo's replaced. If you have the Vishnu Flash, the target boost is increased in the DME and will cause half engine low boost codes. After taking the PROcede off my car, I ended up flashing my MSD80 back to stock with WinKFP to fix the issue and just picked up a COBB AP. Other than meth, the car pulls like a rocket with the COBB. Very happy so far with just the flash tune and I'm really thinking about going Aquamist rather than putting the PROcede back on. BTW, no engine codes so far with the COBB. Car runs great and it's very smooth even with the OTS maps. |

Yeah, to be honest I just needed to change it up a bit because I'm bored. The fact that I just got new turbo's installed on my car gave me an excuse to do just that. I've made over 450 whp with stock turbos and I honestly can't see spending more money on upgraded turbo's at the point in time... I really need to look at doing an LSD and upgraded suspension parts before I think about doing a turbo upgrade anyway.
I'm also looking forward to playing around with Open Source. I know a lot of people in the PNW area who will want to take advantage of this but don't have the knowledge. Hopefully I can bring something to the table and help pay for my new toys. I have to say, the PROcede is a great tune and people can argue this point over and over again, but like I have always said a tune is a tune is a tune. We all do the same thing at the end of the day. As much as some people dislike Shiv (mostly people who don't even know him), I have to say he's a great guy and he deserves respect regardless of what some people think as the hide behind their keyboards and hate. I also think he's got something big coming and I just don't know what yet... Not sure how much more we'll see from a performance increase, maybe a more drivable experience or new functionality. I just hope it's enough to keep things going for him within this platform, because without him things won't be the same. |

Hey man.. How's life up North? You need to bring your @ down South soon... I've been meaning to call. Kids have a break coming up and I'm looking for things to do... I might have to put them in the car and road trip North so they can get Canada stamps in their passports. I'll give you a call this weekend.

Hi Wedge,
My issue with Vishnu flash is slightly different in the sense that it will trigger trans malfunction mode before going into limp mode during WOT. I did not have this issue before without the flash. I thought of using Autologic to flash my dme back to stock. Did you have any issue in flashing them back to stock? Is there any precaution I have to take before flashing them back to stock? I am just afraid that I might somehow corrupt the file in doing the above. Quote:

Jan 2008 built. I was getting engine over speed issue 4F70 code and 2D58 / 11608 - DME digital motor electronics, internal failure: control nominal torque. Ok, I will try the trans flash first and see how it goes. Thanks

Scanned it no nothing showed up...
When I push the car it'll go till about 3-4k and then I can feel it loosing power like no push at the end of my throttle peddle. Sounds like something is leaking like air. |
