kal-el, go to Alexia's Auto Tint.
I just got mine done there 3 days ago. I love it. Professionals, certified, and they are on winter specials right now. Save about $50 bucks.

I know a place in Bellevue, WA who is AWESOME!! I've had all my cars tinted while I was living up in Seattle and I even drive back up there to get my current cars tinted. Well worth it. He even does celebrity cars, so if they can trust him then so can I.

If you want bargain, I think that Speed Concept (??) store on TV highway has low prices. FYI, you get what you pay for so just beware before going to the cheaper places

hey Acornz thanks for the heads up, i kinda figured that also, howeve i dont want to be ripped off, i SHOULD be able to have it done professionally everything warranted under $200 i think.
as for that place (guy at his house garage) off powell, i didnt get good vibes from him, missed appointments and didnt call me, uses an inferior film, and generally unkept, i dont want him crawling arround in my brand new car!! ill try one of the other mentioned in here... thanks guyzz

Good that you found out about that guy doing it at his house before you committed to it. I hear good things about Alexia's, all the guys I've talked to at Kuni and Lexus always refer customers to them. Good luck with that

Has anyone tinted their windshield? I'd like to do tinting, but only if I could have it all the way around. I don't believe any tinting is allowed on the windshield in Oregon, but I'd like to know if anyone tinted it anyway. Or better yet, if I'm wrong about that law.

In oregon, window tint law = 32% for side windows and 50% rear window I believe. Give Alexia's auto tint a call. They specialize in BMW/MB tinting.
You can't tint the front windsheild.

Oregon is 35% for front sides, rear sides, and back windshield. This is "net" rating meaning that it is tint+any factory tinting in the glass for a total of 35%.
Washington is 35% all around but it is "film" so if there is light factory tinting you can still add 35% film and be legal. http://www.tintdude.com/laws.html

I had 35% SunTek charcoal done at Speed Concept in Beaverton (TV hwy). It was $125 and looks excellent save for some very minor bubble on the top rear dot-matrix, which is common on these cars. They've promised to make it perfect, but I've not had time to go by again. They also have great prices on H&R sport springs + install (~$400). It's a total rice shop, but they do a lot of work on BMW's and are very competent and have great prices.

I went to Tommy's Window Tinting. They were great, BUT everyone is always talking about the quality at Alexia's.

Are people happy with the look of their tints without tinting the windshield? I'd like to tint, but not sure if it would look good without having tinting all around. Any pictures showing that not tinting the windshield still looks good?

Tint material's / quality is so high these days, that you can have a tint on your windsheild that will not be noticeable to the naked eye, and will seem untinted when compared to a tint of 35% all-around. I tinted the windsheild on my last car, and you could not tell it was tinted at all. The GREAT thing about tinting the windsheild with a higher percentage tint, is that it does not block light at all, rather, it keeps out a lot of the heat.

Have to recommend Elite Window Tinting in Gladstone. They came highly recommended and use 3M tint. 35% everthing except front windshield. It cost $219 with lifetime warranty.

Just an FYI. I just had 503 Motoring do the tint on my E90. I couldn't be happier. They used the top of the line metallic tint (I forget the name) and it looks EXCELLENT. Tim and Brett really run a top notch operation over there. They're the ONLY shop Rasmussen will use for tint at this time.

Alexia's is TERRIBLE....very unprofessional if you as much as question the quality of their work. Be advised, they are also a tinting school, the likelihood that some first time n00b will work on your car is very high. Of course, they will tell you otherwise. Kuni recommended them...first and last time that I will accept a recommendation from Kuni.
I have heard very good things about Tommy's in Portland...but have not used them. |

I think it's 35% for all around.....I've actually gotten pulled over when I had my '94 325is w/ 6% limo tint. And the cop told me that the law says 35% in ORegon.....
