2011 335is Cab, Iphone5 says Not Supported in iDrive HELP!
Ok I have the iphone5 connected via bluetooth and phone works fine, i tried connecting it via usb for music, says "Not Supported"
so i read that some people can use the bluetooth option, but when i go to my media options, the "Bluetooth" option isnt there in external devices or anywhere. How can I play music off my iphone5? |

You need the "Y" adapter from BMW and then the 30-pin to Lightning adapter from Apple. Just connecting to the USB alone will not work. the "Y" adapter connects the iPhone to both the USB and 3.5mm jacks in the center console. the USB is for control and the 3.5mm jack is for sound. Since the "Y" adapter has a older style 30-pin iPhone connector, you need the Apple adapter cable to connect to the Lightning plug on the iPhone 5.

I'm surprised that you are having a hard time with the phone paired over bluetooth. I'm assuming you can stream over bluetooth? Then it shouldn't matter what kind of adapter you have because you don't need it unless you are planning to charge the phone.

In the videos I've watched people have a "Bluetooth" option in their menus at the bottom. I do not. With the Y Adapter can i control the tracks from steering wheel and idrive, or do I have to use the phone? Can I store tracks from iphone to hard drive with the Y adapter. |

I have a 2010 330i and I had the same exact problem! After countless hours of research I found out that "our" cars don't have an option called COMBOX which was only fitted in late 2011 models if I'm not mistake, this option adds Bluetooth streaming (that's why you don't have Bluetooth in your CD/multimedia menu) and it also adds the ability for you to connect the iPhone with the stock cable. As it is now you cannot connect it unless you buy the Y cable from BMW+ the adapter from apple... If you have any more questions don't bother to PM me!
