I've since been advised that 5L Cans of Castrol are not a UK product, so are not backed by Castrol UK.

Sorry I should have explained myself better.

I emailed Opie Oils to see if they could price match this offer and they came back saying that they couldn't price match because the 5 litre cans are not a UK product and so are not backed by Castrol UK.

I need to take the car in for an oil change and was going to take my own oil, I don't want to buy this stuff and then BMW to get sh*tty and say the same.

So it's still correct oil made by Castrol but for foreign markets.

If its upto ll04 spec and correct grade then what can they say?
It's castrol edge just because its in a 5l bottle instead of 4l isn't really and argument, and in any case do you think bmw techs will realise?
Maybe it's just opie oils way of fobbing you off.

Ended up getting some from ECP as they have 30% off at the moment.

A couple of days before the car was due to go in for an oil change the +1L alert came on, decided to use the ECP own stuff which is LL-04 and at £7 for 1L can't go wrong.

Once you include p&p this is even cheaper:

Ive found you can often beat Opie prices on ebay even after forum discounts

I picked it up from a store down the road so no postage, I think it came to about £40 for 5 litres (4Lx1 + 1Lx1). Saved me £25 off my service.

The saving I've just put towards a M3 lip spoiler
