driving and speed question...
hey guys, tell me something, since we have lower speed limits in Sydney and outer Sydney, do you find that on long trips you mind tends to drift and wander? I know mine does, I find myself loosing concentration more because of the monotony of one low speed over hours. In contrast, I'm postulating that driving faster, or back to the speeds from about 10 years ago, would increase your awareness and require you to focus on the job at hand, driving more safely....
what do you think? The last trip i did to Berry and Mudgee was droning and mind numbingly slow. |

for sensible and safe drivers, i think a higher speed limit would be benificial, but sadly it will never happen because of all the loosers in their hektic rex's that have ruined it for everyone else
i do agree that a higher speed limit would be good though... on my recent trip to melb on the vic country roads it was good, cos the limit was 100 (sounds low), it kept you a bit more awake, cos there were alot of twisty roads and obstacles if we had the same roads here in nsw, they would likely be posted as 70 or 80, instead of 100

yeah that's what i mean... i've noticed many streets in sydney go from 80-60 of 70-50 in the last 10 years. Were the people who set the limits so wrong 10 years ago? we've got safer car that handly higher speeds with more control and yet the limits go down....

not only do you have no idea what we're talking about as you're from across the pond, but you're being rude too?

well i've tried getting laid whilest driving and that still doesn't help.... i think it makes it worse still to concentrate.... oh and that 70k zone on the m2 where it used to be 100k, with the introduction of a speed camera.... now that's just taking the piss! |

I can see the revenue quickly coming in from that speed camera. Probably paid for itself within the first day of operation.
I think the traffic situation in Brisbane is starting to make Sydney roads look like autostradas. I was south bound on the Gateway Motorway this afternoon standing still in traffic looking at a 100 KPA sign post. Talk about going to sleep on a motorway!!!! |

and the lane cove tunnel? how about that p plater making a mockery of them all, and breaking through the barriers before it was all open and doing like 180km/h through there... haha they in reality should stop charging a toll now in the LCT, it's raised plenty of money (bloody privatly owned motorways...)
