Need Help with Pairing Iphone

I've searched and haven't been able to find a successful solution. When I try to pair the Iphone to my e92 335i with navi(built 2/07), the iphone prompts for a PIN. My car then asks to confirm passkey. Each time it says incorrect pin on the iphone. I've tried 0000, 12345...nothing seems to work. I had no trouble pairing my razr before.

Does anyone have a solution to this. thanks in advance.

It doesn't matter what you enter for the PIN as long as it is the _same_ when you enter it into both devices.

Had the same issue with mine. When pairing your iPhone when your prompted for your PIN use the last 5 digits of your VIN. This is what worked for me.

Not much help to the OP, but I paired my iPhone yesterday afternoon and it worked without issues -- I selected a four-digit PIN and it then prompted me for that on the iPhone.

As noted above, it doesn't matter what the PIN is as long as it's the same on either end.

Thanks for all the suggestions but no luck. This has been a very frustating experience. I've spent hours sitting in my car today. I've tried entering the same PIN but it doesn't work. I tried using the last five digits of the VIN and still didn't work. It's weird because my car works perfectly fine with the RAZR phone. I did delete my old phone before attempting to add the Iphone. I guess I have to wait tomorrow to call BMW. The people at APPLE pretty much said tough luck.

I've read stuff in other forum posts about conflicts with 802.11 and bluetooth being on at the same time on the phone. Try disabling WiFi on the phone and then try the bluetooth. It can't hurt if it's already not working.

vtrain...

when you're pairing your iphone with the car, make sure your iphones bluetooth is on. During the pairing process you will see a screen that states, "XXXXX ready for pairing" then it will prompt you for your PIN. Use the "XXXXX" number for this PIN. As well use the same "XXXXX" on the iphone.

the "XXXXX" for me happened to be the last 5 Digits of my VIN.

Hope this helps....

This probably is not the problem but it is not clear after you enter the matching pin on your car move the selection block to enter the pin. Cannot remember the exact wording. If you return using the return arrow it does not enter. I unfortunately speak from having made this mistake.

Thanks everyone, I finally got it to work by doing the following.
1. Turned off Wi-fi
2. Enter last five digits of the VIN on the iphone
3. Reenter the same digits on the car
4. Hit "confirm passkey" instead of the return key. Thanks Tom for the suggestion. I can't believe this simple mistake was the cause of all my frustations.

The number doesn't matter as long as they are they same. I did the same.. used return instead of confirm passkey. It could be a little clearer or just ask you to confirm.. software design is not BMW's strong point.

Glad it worked.

i have some issues with my iphone as well.
The phone pairs without problem with the car: addressbook, call in & out no problem. The next time i enter the car, they pair without problem, but as soon as i make or receive a call, connection drops immediatly.
Wifi is off. E92 325i. Unlocked iphone 1.0.2

In all seriousness, that may be your problem. Several people at work have tried variants of the assorted application loaders, unlockers, etc. and report that they developed general stability problems over time (not specifically related to BMWs). It might be worth resetting/reinitializing your phone to see if the problem goes away. As you've likely heard, Apple is warning that their next update may brick unlocked phones. Unlike the conspiracy theorists, I personally don't believe that this is an intentional attempt on their part to brick such phones, simply a conflict in their pending changes and the nature of unlocked phones (firmware changes).

unlocked means you can put any sim in your phone and it will work. I live in europe so I don't have any choice but to use an unlocked iphone.

It means that the phone can be used with any GSM wireless service (T-Mobile, European carriers...etc.) and is no longer longer locked to AT&Tingular.

when I pair my phone, the car asks first for the code and then i have to confirm on my phone. Could this be the problem?
