When you have packages shipped into Canada they have to go through customs. The carrier charges you a broker fee for this service. Canada Post and all the couriers all charge broker fees.

If taxes (PST and/or GST) are applicable they are also charged.

You can avoid broker fees by importing the product yourself.

Ship USPS. Most of the time customs office at Canada Post won't bother checking items with low declared value and just let them through. Even if they do, the handling fee is only $5. UPS charges something like $40.

No brokerage fees with a declared value less than $20:

FEDEX are much better at getting shipments across the border -- I now refuse UPS shipments due to their excess charges...

sounds like about time we (Canadians) who live in the Vancouver, lower mainland area need to setup a trading post somewhere close to the border.

buy your parts, have them ship there.
drive down to pickup, at the same time, fill up your tank
do some shopping and return.

save money since our $ is the same as US now.....

ups is a rip-off! They charge ridiculous brokerage fees! Go for canada post or fedex.

$49? does Tischer only use UPS? wanted to order blacklines and other items from them but the high brokerage fees UPS charges are making me think twice about it...
