335i feels slower after replacing plugs

Hi,

Got JB4 Map5 installed and car was pretty fun fast, loved it. However, after i replaced my spark plugs couple days ago at a shop, my car feels slower. It is still fast if you step on it don't get me wrong, but the car just doesn't feel as peppy and I dont feel the boost kick hard at all. (very subtle...). Previously the car hauls like a train... Right now i am running 92 octane with probably only 10% E85.

I turned the JB4 off completely and stock feels slow also, the car just doesn't want to rev and the boost just doesnt feel like the same as before. Engine is warmed up, no CEL, haven't get anyone to look at codes. What could be the problem? Sometime wrong with the turbos?

Could it be a cracked/leaking chargepipe? And let's say if it is, is it dangerous to drive with it for a little while before i replace it? Thanks!! I think i'll bring it to the shop to have them take a look!!

You need to read codes and/or post a log.

did you make sure to torque them correctly and put the coil packs back in tight?

I didn't the the plugs, i took it to a local shop and they did it for me. They service all kinds of different cars but is definately not "specialized" in bmw particularly. If plugs are not torque properly and coil packs no in tight it'll make a difference? i will think that it will misfire and studder and all. But my car runs fine, just seems like its missing its beefiness and juice...

When i go WOT it feels SOOOOO slow. I am very upset right now and really want to get it to the shop ASAP.

A quick update, the low end torque and power is still there and feels normal. But as i rev it the mid range power and torque seems like its gone all together and the rev builds very slowly and boost/turbo doesnt feel like its there. Any where you guys think i should look for the problem/solution? Thanks!!

I think you might be able to reset adaptations from the JB4, ask around as I am not super familiar with Terry's products.

Otherwise you might need to borrow someone BavTech tool. Essentially your car adjusts as parts wear (plugs, coilpacks, O2 sensors etc) and the car "adapts" to the current condition of those parts, so when you reset adaptations the car will essentially be at ground zero and will recalibrate for the new plugs you installed.

hmmmm. I did turn the JB4 off all together and tested both with it off and on. Barely made no difference the car still feels slow even with the JB4 off...

I guess i can try up plugging the JB4 all together and replugging it back in to see if it makes a difference. Hopefully its nothing major =/

look up how to use the steering wheel jb4 controls..

clear codes, then restart car and take it for a spin. Probably a stored fault/code.

Press volume/channel down until the orange box lights up..

go to speedo-1 then rpm-2 then click the left button down to clear codes.

wow so many suggestions. Well since the only thing that changed was your plugs, that is the problem. I highly doubt your charge pipe or whatever was suggested began to leak after routine maintenance. to me it sounds like your plugs were not gapped correctly and youre getting incomplete combustion. The 02 sensor should pick up on that, but sometimes it takes 50 or so miles. But thats what I would bet on the problem being.

But i bought the bosch oem equivalent spark plugs, do they need to be gapped?!? I thought they should be direct replacement and doesnt need any addition work. If i do need to gap it, how much? I may take it back to the shop and have to take it out and gap them to see what happens. Thanks guys!!

2nd on adaptations. Do that first. Do a search on the process of restarting after a reset, which you can do with your jb4 as indicated.

Ok, so i drove it from work home and a check engine light actually lit up. It is the one that says Engine Problem, Loss of power (it is yellow right now). For the time being i turned my JB4 off, do not intend to drive it until i get it to the shop.

Can this still be caused of the gapping of the spark plugs? Also, on some other forums people have mentioned about reseting the adaptation module for new spark plugs. Is that true? Will the engine not realize that the new plugs are good??? Also, will reseting codes on the JB4 help? is there absolutely anything i can do by myself right now? Do not want to damage my engine. wish me luck guys >_<!!!

You do know the OEM Bosch SP for the N54 have a specific reanch to tighten them in place...if they are not correctly positioned, u will get a lot of codes, low spool and loss of combustion. I don't think the Jb4 has anything to do with it.
