No, this is not another does this exhaust sound good thread...I just want the piping on this exhaust. In have fabbed up my own exhaust but first tried it out on my OEM exhaust and it sounds great but I want new SS piping and istead of using "Meisterschaft" wich cost $1,300+ it was brought to my attention to use the M2 catback exhaust and just cut out the mufflers and use the resonators I have in my exhaust. I have a few questions!

my exhaust:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=856782

1. Where did you by the M2 exhaust?
2. It looks as if it has resonators in the midpipes, are these the size of the 1792 vibrants?
3. Would vibrants fit in the place of the M2 resonators?

i saw your other tread about building an exhaust. i have had this exact idea of cutting up the m2 exhaust and creating my own for quite some time now.

i dont know if this is the "m2" but it looks just like it

That is ist, scrolled down and it says "M2" and is a 2.5" wich is perfect....do you know how big those resonators are? Are they the size of 1792 vibrant resonators. wonder if the piping is close to OEM routing since I do have a lockdown kit.

e90 being few inches shorter & you are not going to use section 3 anyways so when you do add your new muffler, just compensate accordingly. without adjustmemt, muffler tips hang out about 3-4 cms.

i know you want 1792s for resonators, but why dont you try using what it comes with. if it doesnt cut it, you can always add 1792s

You do know the metal on the M2 is awful quality, right? If you google M2 exhaust review you'll get a ton of threads of people saying how badly theres rusted. If I remember correctly one person said his rusted to the point where it created an exhaust leak and that was only from two weeks of rain... Idk if I would recommend cutting up and using the M2 although it is cheap

See I have heard this too, but I said screw it and got it anyway. I'm tired of everyone saying the bs "i've heard horror stories" or "my friend had this exhaust blah blah blah" but never actually seeing it themselves, its always he said she said. I have had the exact exhaust in that ebay ad for almost 2 years now and I live in south LA where it rains A LOT and there is not one spot of rust on mine and I was under the car yesterday. Everything still looks good as new and I love the way it sounds out of the box.

Someone else had made a thread on this a while back and multiple people said they have had zero problems with theirs and only 1 person said they had some minor rust issues. The only bad things people had to say were about how their friend had it or some bs.

To the OP, I have thought about doing the same and swapping the mufflers for some ultra quiets, but haven't had the chance. If you do decide to go this route and you're really worried about rust just paint the piping before you put it on with some high temp paint and you'll be golden.

Hmm well that's good news then I guess. I'm just relaying the information i've read about. One of my friends has the exhaust too and hasnt had any issues in 2 months and loves it. I personally am not a fan of how it sounds since its a bit too raspy and farty for me, but to each their own. He loves the way it sounds so it works for him

I guess I might get it then...it's only $400 lol!!! So the tips stick out farther? ...Will the rest of the exhaust fit correctly on a E90? Just a concern because of the lockdown kit I have. The exhaust will have to fit correctly.

So you're just running the full m2 exhaust now? I'm thinking about giving it a shot again

Yes, and I really like the way it sounds. It was a little raspy for a few weeks, but when the mufflers broke in the tone got a little louder and deeper and the rasp went away. I can honestly say its the best 382 dollars I've spent on my car.

I plan on putting a smaller muffler like the vibrant ultra quiet for a little more sound, b/c honestly it's still pretty quiet compared to other setups I've had.

Yeah, I might get one to hack-up. I really want my car is quiet as possible. I'll either hack this up, or do like Rob and modify the stock exhaust.

Any ideas for quiet mufflers? I wonder why some high-end exhausts sound better (I'm guessing the mufflers).

If you want quiet I wouldn't do the M2... It's very loud and raspy/farty sounding. I would either modify the stock exhaust or do one of the more tame options like the VRSF. I've had a setup with catless downpipes and secondary cat delete, and now the VRSF exhaust. Both were great and I love the way the VRSF I have now sounds.

Good videos! The stock setup with no cats is much deeper, but the VRSF has apt better tone.

Hmm, I wish someone would dyno before and after. Only such comparisom that I've seen is ETS.

I wouldn't really expect any gains. If you do an exhaust like the VRSF you'll pick up more performance from the 40 lb weight savings than you will the exhaust itself. The oem exhaust flows pretty well for what it is
