Best price for walnut cleaning in Socal?

Im sorely overdue for this. My indy quoted me about $700. Seems a bit high. You guys have any other recommendations?
Thanks

Those are Stealership rates! If your car is under CPO you can get the dealership to do it for $50. Also, I know on the east coast the going rate is usually about $300-$350 at most respected Indy shops who Group Buy deal these services. You will probably also need to change out the Gaskets for $50 (They can re-use your old ones... but why would you do that when everything is already apart (replace rather then re-use).

Other services to do at the same time would be to change out your spark plugs (Since you are already there anyways). HAve you considered getting a BMS Oil Catch Can to help stop the blow-by oil from coating into your intercooler and plumbing?

Drew Russell in Laguna Hills $350 which includes new intake manifold gaskets. Doesn't require a group buy and is a master technician, factory trained. Let me know if you need his info.

Huh? You mean if they cover it under warranty?

My SA and the Shop Foreman claim BMW is so specific on exactly what codes/symptons the car has to be giving that its extremely rare for BMW to cover the cleaning under warranty/CPO.

Ive never heard of anyone getting it done under warrantee without some obscure problem that cant be fixed without doing a cleaning. Even my SA wouldnt charge me less than 150 (which is what i paid but we have become friends, and they were already in there so he said they could just bundle the labor with what they were doing already)

West Coast Autobahn in Orange http://westcoast-autobahn.com/ . Steve is the man, he has the factory tool. When you do this service it's a great time to do the oil filter housing gasket on the turbos since the intake has to come off for that.

Mine was done under CPO in Florida.

I'm not sure what the codes were, but the symptoms were rough idle and throttle cutting out under load.

Took three visits. First visit they did spark plugs and HPFP. Second, three coils and all injectors. Third, the walnut blast which resolved the issues.

If you have these symptoms, push the issue. My SA had to get a regional engineer involved to get approval to do it under warranty.

Edit: Just saw this is an old thread. Hopefully this info helps someone anyway.

I had the same experience as Titanium3er -- it took several visits to the dealer before they finally agreed to walnut blast under warranty. It fixed the problem - car felt like new again. It was especially frustrating because I asked them about carbon build-up during my first visit to the dealer. They claimed there was no build-up. A few thousand miles later, the dealer gets approval to do a walnut blast and surprise, there is "lots of carbon build-up." Do you think it's possible they didn't actually check?! Hmmm.

as a reference i had it done under CPO b/c i kept getting vanos and knock sensor codes and it was my second visit for the same thing. usually takes a couple visits for them to cave in. good thing too b/c i was about to pay a indy for the cleaning. night and day difference. get it done!
