Whats going on with my car

Alright guys, the car drives good pulls hard except a few times, here are the symptoms:

1- When Idle is at 750 - 800 (fan off, headlights off)
2- the engine doesnot pull hard atall, when punched throws Engine malfunction half light at around 3k RPM

Most frequent after the car's been run , shutoff and restarted (still hot) i.e. after pumping gas etc

Othertimes when the idle is at 600, the car runs just fine no codes pulls hard

Can anyone point me in some direction here ? Could it be something electrical ?? I'm waiting for JB4 usb tomorrow to read the code

step 1) delete thread
step 2) read codes
step 3) follow well documented procedures on how to handle the codes you have

The second item you listed, OP, sounds reminiscent of something I experienced, although I wasn't watching the RPMs.

I took it to the dealer and told them about and it turned out to be a pressure seal somewhere in/around the turbo chargers. It only manifested itself when I floored it or exceeded 80 mph. The dealer replaced it free of charge as I was under warranty at the time. It was a $4000 repair if I'd had to pay for it.

All the best.

it's probably a blown piston and you'll need a whole new motor. 15k minimum.

If I have time, I can stop by there and ask them for a copy of the work order on that and I'd be happy to share the info with you, but that's the best I can do.

It might be worth your while, and your money, to at least let the dealer diagnose the problem for you, even if you don't want them to perform the work. Then at least you'd be in a position to assess just how you want to proceed. If you are good at fixing things, there's no doubt that parts can be purchased, even if only from a BMW dealer.

I assume by your reply that you are out of warranty???

Well, for the OP's sake, I do hope you are merely saying that in jest and seeking a bit of mean humor at the expense of the OP's sanity. I honestly have no idea what a blown piston would sound like.

diverter valve was leaking really bad, cleaned oil deposits on the connector, couldnt believe it wasn't closing all the way thru because of hard oil gunk ... anyway it doesnt leak now

I used this DIY

http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13114

Also, took out intercooler cleaned, rinsed and checked hoses, all looks good

btw, there was some water left in the intercooler after rinsing lol ... when I started the car this smoke of steam from exhaust filled the whole garage ... scared the **** out of me

I'm still max boosting 14 though ... maybe that diverter again, I need to order a new one
