someone called my car Mercedes.

so today i was at work and this cops comes in and asked me if i drive that mercedes (pointing at my car).
nothing happened to my car, he was just asking.
i didn't even know how to answer his question.....
and this is not the first time someone called my car, a Mercedes.
some chicks at my school calls my car, a mercedes.
i mean... i understand that some people don't really have much interest in cars.
but.... they can't tell the difference between mercedes and bmw??
so has this happen to anyone else?? or is it just me??

I haven't gotten that statement, thankfully. I do get "is it a 5 series?"

Ironically the people that have asked me that question were directly behind my car (as we were chatting outside) and they could've seen the "335" to figure out it was a 3-series

This is the type of mentality that gives BMW drivers a bad name.

First of all, most people have virtually no knowledge of different car makes. You're lucky the person even confused it with a Mercedes as many people see cars as "the black car" or "the silver car"

Also, why do so many people on this forum think the reason for everyone's actions is that they are "jealous" of something that they supposedly "can't afford"?

Just take the mature approach and acknowledge if it's your car, and simply correct them, "by the way, its actually a BMW".

Back in the day we used to hang out in an empty parking lot and sometimes do bonfires right in the middle. One of the guys had a police scanner so we knew when to bolt.

One time we heard that they were coming so we all scattered. We were late on the draw as they had seen all of us as we were leaving. One of the cops called my M3 a corvette. I knew because its yellow and they were mentioning the cars leaving the scene and the only yellow one mentioned was a vette.

I wasnt sure how to take that but we had a good laugh about it.
