you could have a euro independent mechanical do registration and program the battery if aH is different from what you had previously.
are you sure your cluster problem is related? |

Thnx for reply, Cluster was working 100% before they swapped out battery when I got back the mechanic told about the problem so we decided to take the negative cable off for a couple of minutes, then we put the cable on and it worked, but!!!! Then I turned off the car to go inside to pay and came back out turned the car back on, it was blank again

Maybe post in the mechanical / maintenance section with pics of your cluster? May not help you find a shop locally but you might get some feedback on what might be going on? |

The BMW dealer will fix the battery cable under the recall for free, just call and give them your VIN # and they'll check to see if your car is part of the recall... Last edited by toniostyle; 07-08-2013 at 02:58 PM.. |

It's best to get the battery registered. If the replacement Ah is very different from the orig Ah, you may also need to have the battery programmed. If the Ah is the same, you can get by with just the registration. There is at least one free software out there that does registration, in case you can't find a reasonable price from a shop -http://**************.com/products you would need to buy a compatible cable to get this to work, they have links to such on Amazon for a pretty reasonable price. It also reads DME codes, which is what I've used it for. In any event, glad you got the cluster back to normal. |
