So my current setup right now is as follows

19x9.5 rear, 19x8.5 front avant garde m310

265 30 19 rear
235 35 19 front

however, part of the rim protrudes from the side of the tire, exposing it a lot more than necessary. other people have gotten wheel and tire packages and it doesn't look like mine... theirs looks like the tire covers the wheel completely



would i just be able to get wider tires or is that not how this stuff works?

Depends on the tire brand and model. Hankook v12s and falken 453s have a narrow sidewall and the Michelin pss tires are rounder. All at the same size.

that makes sense since those tires are hankook v12.

looking to get continental DWS next.. how are those in comparison?

Haven't had experience with continental's. I always google which tire brand and width of the wheel on google images and people say their reviews. Easiest way to find out.

switch to 275/30/19 while you're at it. you still got space under that fender to fit and it's a more perfect match to the front 235/35 too.

What are the differences between 265 and 275? Why is it better?

265 and 275 are the tires widths... so 275 mm gives you 10mm more tire than a 265. which also will mean the tires will be flush with the wheel face more.

275/30 will also give you a tiny bit thicker sidewall too.

The DWS is comparable in terms of the width. If you are looking for a wider option, try the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

So if I end up getting 275 rear, wouldn't the front rims look more protruding than the rear rims?

The PSS are too expensive.. My hankooks are going and I wasn't really impressed with them.. I think I'll go with the DWS this time

The DWS is an all-season, whereas your Hankooks are summer performance tires. They're not really directly comparable because of that. That being said, the DWS is a great tire for an all-season.

I recommend sticking with a 235/265 stagger, although the 235/275 stagger are virtually the same height. I can't guarantee that you'll have no rubbing in the rear if you decide to run a 275.

How hard would I have to drive my car to feel the handling difference between Michelin PSS and Continental DWS? Is it that drastic?

I have had the Conti DWS,DW and Mich. PSS. Big difference in between the Conti and Michelins. The Michelins are worth every cent. I thought the same...Mich were overpriced, but after getting them, they are worth it. The Conti sidewall are not as hard...DW is soft...but the DWS seemed very soft. You will see the difference on your freeway exit at a moderate speed. I do have a dedicate set of winter tires.

They are different in pretty much every way imaginable. The PSS is a dedicated summer tire, whereas the DWS is an all-season. The PSS has excellent grip in most driving scenarios, but you can't use them in snow.

For everyday driving, either will be fine. When you push them hard, the PSS will outshine the DWS by a long shot. That being said, the DWS is about as good as it gets for an all-season.
