Hey all,
A ltitle background, I drive a E92 February-build 2007 328xi. My BRAKE light in the dash came on, as well as the "Car on Lift" symbol appears on startup, so I looked at my front pads and they def needed to be changed. So I bought Akebono EUR 1061 front pads as well as a PEX brake pad wear sensor. Pads - http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E92-328..._All/ES257234/ Wear Sensor - http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...questid=278607 I installed both front pads (using tutorials on this board), clipped the new sensor in the driver's front pad, and everything works great after bedding. Now here's my problem. I tried to reset the service indicator with the car both on and off, and the front pad symbol won't reset. I get to the Front Pads reset menu and the clocks spins like it's working, then it just shows the front pad symbol with -9000 miles still. If I press the brake pedal as I'm trying to reset the front pad symbol, as soon as the little clock shows up it automatically jumps to the "car on a lift" symbol, also not resetting it. Is the sensor not working, or is this a problem that has been answered before and I just couldn't find via searching? I appreciate any help. KG |

Is there a way to test the sensor?

im guessing you followed the correct procedure when resetting??
car should not be on, access maintenance menu(odo button 5 seconds), press and hold BC button on brakes until reset? |

Yup. Tried it with the car both on and off. Without the brake pedal pressed, the clock spins and it finishes, but doesn't reset anything. Still shows -9000 and the "Car on Lift". With the brake pedal pressed in when resetting, once I click the BS stalk to reset, the clock appears real fast then it beeps and "Car on Lift" image appears and no reset is done. Weird.

I believe the whole system needs to be reseted as in front and rears. If this still does not work, you can splice the sensor and connect the two wires together and the reset. This solves the issue if you don't want to buy new sensors.

Sorry about the late response, but after a few days driving, the Brake light went out, and it shows 1300 miles now, which obviously seems low.

BTW - my sensors are cable tied to the suspension, as in I don't use them because I keep an eye on pad wear myself. |
