Just found this car on eBay!
Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-BMW-3...item3f260dc59b 182k on the clock, love to see that! This definitely leads me to believe the 335D can achieve 200k no problem. Anyone seen higher than this? Definitely the highest I have seen to date. I plan to take mine to a minimum of 200k! (on 102k now) Hope to see 1 million at some point as I won't be selling my D! ![]() |

I bet if we were able to do the same with our 335d every day, our cars would not suffer these emission problems. There is precious little opportunity to drive these cars the way they were designed to be driven. It's hard to imagine they tweaked all the important bits and pieces of the domestic version for export to allow for the kind of driving we do here in the USA. They just bolted on extra stuff to deal with the emissions, right? And did some DDE firmware mods, right? Whatcha think?

I doubt it. I dont buy into the "drive it hard" theory on here. Its possible, yes, but I doubt it. From my understanding the PCV is more active when you area driving hard, so MORE oil would be passing through your manifold and combining with soot from the EGR. I dont know much about under what conditions the EGR is working but from what I can tell from some of the datalogs from TDIwyse it would be open some times while cruising at high speeds. Personally, and its mostly just speculation, I think the only way to really alleviate the problem is to block the EGR and vent the PCV to atmosphere, anything short of that and you just have to save $$$ for periodic cleaning.

That's almost 300,000 kilometres. My buddy has seen a few 2009 X5d vehicles with the same mileage here in Ontario.
It would take me 18 years to hit 182,000 miles or 300,000 kilometres based on my yearly driving. ![]() |

Hooper I differ w you, last December before the 1/2 mile race event my car went on limp mode just miles away from the race( I had just pulled away easily from a red light) i called my mechanic he told me to turn it off and back on, and the light was gone, needless to say my mechanic drove my car twice at 1/2 mile race cause I had a broken finger and had a full hand cast plus I was uneasy at the speeds I was to go thru, I had driven at 120 mph w one hand and felt I would die if I raced. anyway after two 1/2 races he clocked 150 mph at the end of the 1 mile course, we didnt fair well as the first run i made at 129.68 a year earlier. But after i got in my car the car was running somewhat LOSE!! my girlfriend who doesnt know SHEIT about cars but put gas in it even noticed the car was lose!! ever since those two runs my car has given better performanc e and mileage albeit maybe 1-2 mpg in the city and its around 21-23 mpg city, in the highway I will get anywhere around 36-44 mpg but knowing how stupid crazy I am driving I get way less sorry amigos LEAD foot here and you know something that with the RENNtech flash and the new WAGNER IC, priceless!! So i firmly beleive for you to be able loosen the soot in our systems you have to drive them hard from time to time, I used to drive my 02 MCS the same way and never got issues in 128k and 9 yrs of ownership!! and that car my friends had a RENNtech flash but the KEY here was that it had a CATCH CAN from M7Tuning!! which later the hoses cracked and i never replaced. To this day the car has 175k and still running the new oner said he had to do some gaskets replacement and YES he had some soot build up to remove!

95000 on my 2011.
Recently bought it with 92k. Original owner had long freeway commute. Car looks, drives and smells like it has 20k. I look forward to hitting 200k. |

That's 152,000 kms. Mine is a 2009 with almost 24,000 miles on it. I guess many people out there do some serious commuting for work. I'm only 7 miles from work.

I currently drive a 330dA with 235.000 km on the clock. I drive between 250 and 350 to and from work almost every day.
My former 330d had 542.000 km on the clock when I sold it. I had it since 210.000 km .....

There is no doubt that mechanically the 335d is good for the long haul. The question is will it get suffocated by carbon build up due to all the pollution controls well before the engine is anything near worn out?

The drive it harder theory certainly applies to some makes and models, especially Porsche's. I worked summers in a very busy Porsche shop in Atlanta and the most reliable, and oil leak free for certain model year 911's were always the owners who were beating on them

Here is a 2009 335d for sale with 147,000 kms (91,000 miles) on it. They don't list the mileage for it but it's in one of the pics if you scroll down:
