How to stop angel eyes LED lights from flickering/strobing??? (E93)
Hi All,
Just replaced my angel eyes lights from a bulb to led lights. After installation i turned them on and they start to permanent flickering I changed the "PWM_RL_BL_1_FKT_SL" parameter from wert_04 to wert_01 what gave a higher 10.5v output to the leds but the flickering did not stop. Anyone knwo how to stop the angel eyes LED lights from flickering/strobing? I already tried to disable the bulb check but it di'd not help. Gr, Sander. |

When i put normal car battery power on it they are not flickering
so it has to do something with coding some parameters also after programming the nfrm module they are lighting up at full power and no flickering, after a reset (stop/start button) they start flickering again. |

i already did and did not help
WARMUEBERWACHUNG_SL_V nicht_aktiv KALTUEBERWACHUNG_SL_V nicht_aktiv what about those: PWM_RL_BL_FKT_SL wert_01 PWM_SL_V wert_04 PWM_SL_V_BEI_AKTIVEN_AL wert_04 PWM_SL_V_BEI_AKTIVEN_FL wert_04 |

the programming is fine i think, i'll do that in expert mode.
i did a verify by doing a "reading" of the nfrm module. the parameter "PWM_RL_BL_1_FKT_SL" increased the brightness so the coding is just working fine i guess btw. the flickering is the whole time and is flickering very fast... |

i think it has to done some with the power output.
changing the "PWM_RL_BL_1_FKT_SL" parameter increased the power to 10.5v (wert_01) does anyone know how to increase to full power (12v) |

Did some google search and found the following:
PWM" strings he FRM module don't mean "Power" but actually "Pulse-Width Modulation". In other words FRM monitors that all the lights are getting 13 Volts at all times. And how? It turns on and off the power really quick (80hz, 80 times per second) until desired voltage is obtained. There are no problems with regular incandescent bulbs but that's why some LED's flicker So i need a way to disable the PWM for the angel eyes. At another forum i found the following: Well like angel eyes if we change the voltages in the NETTODAT.TRC it should disable PWM Does anyone know how to disable (code) the PWM for the angel eyes and if the above is true? |

The PWM lines affect the desired voltage.
The cold and warm checks control the car actually utilizing the PWM. Sounds like the LED's you got aren't so good.

I found the problem, i checked the power with a Fluke87III meter.
When the engine is off i get a nice clean 12v with a frequency 0HZ When he engine is on i also get 12v but with a frequency of 80HZ It's the design of the PWM, it uses the frequency to regulate the voltage. Thats why the leds are flashing very fast, so the problem is in this case the led's power converter. (not stabalized) It cannot handle this frequency, is any LED that don't have this problem? Easy fix, get yourself Automotive In line capacitors.
You can find them on Amazon already wired up with all the connectors to make them plug and go. The capacitors smooth out the voltage PWM ripples that cause the flickering. |
