DIY logic 7 amp repair

if one of my speakers works only when I first turn the volume all the way up, then back down a bit, is my logic 7 amp at fault? is it a capacitor or transistor problem? I opened the amp up, and visually everything looks fine, but I heard the capacitors are usually the ones to cause problems in logic 7 amps, is this true?

If it makes you feel any better I have this same problem. It's the driver side door one I think.

Out of curiosity are these amp's coded to car specifically or can they be swapped out between cars without coding needed?

Btw the amp "looks" good but something had to have failed unfortunately.

There is a repair source for the amp in one of these links

Repair resources

There was a guy in Berkely that used to repair and upgrade these he said
it was ususally the Capacitors and Power Devices. He put in a upgraded version of the power device. He was on the 7 series board of Bimmerfest.

ok thanks, i'll take a look at those links. I think I'm gonna replace all the capacitors first because I know they tend to go bad. I think one of the capacitors is not burnt, but damaged internally and causing the problems. capacitors are meant to get the necessary power requirements for the speakers and if the speakers don't get enough power they tend to produce a crackle/static sound or just won't play at lower volume, since lower volume=less power. So if a capacitor is damaged, i'm guessing that there's an increase in resistance along the circuit, causing the front driver side door speaker's to not play at low volumes. Does this sound plausible?

Here is the fix for it, re-solder all solder points for all ten of the big black capacitors. also use deox-it for the cable connection points. Now my driver side speaker is working fine.

also i use an ohm-meter beforehand to check the quality of the capacitors, all tested normal, so I then resoldered the points and it worked.

The logic 7 amps are not coded to the car. Just replaced mine with another I got from the scrap yard. Took the old one out out the new one in and viola...... Have music again.
