AA BOV Cost?
Does any why the AA BOV and flange are so expensive? Here is a link to a the TIAL and HKS BOV with flange for $200 less. $200 is a huge amount and I cannot imagine the BOV is better than the HKS which has been used on monster applications.

The fact that AA's pipe is nearly a direct fit with OEM type clamps rather than using silicon hose. Also paying for the name.

Thats like asking why Nike Sneakers are more expensive than Reebok Sneakers. Personally i think the HKS is just as good as AA...you're just paying for the brand

Yes and no. Yes the BOV's themselves do the same thing, just with different designes. No in the sense like I mentioned the pipes are machined differently. The AA definitely had more RD and QA done on it. That being said, my Tial BOV was apparently easier to put on and I saved $200 like the OP mentioned.

The thing is HKS is legendary in the tuner world. I cannot imagine the quality is better than the SSQV.

Depends on which tuner world you come from. HKS, Greddy, Tial, AA, Forge...they all make fantastic products with years of development behind them. Some just have way more marketing and advertising than others. At that level you arent going to lose one bit of quality to another.

As far as paying for the name that is not true. We try to price our products fairly. If you look at the lineup we have for the 335 we are actually priced lower than the competition on the majority of the products. We are here to provide you guys with upgrade that can work for the both of us.. Thanks for the support and we will continue to do our best to bring you guys quality products and affordable prices.. |

That I do. I put up a DIY for the install in that section.

I agree. This is comparing the AA bov on my 335i to the HKS bov on my Lexus sc300 turbo. The AA releases really quick. Almost instantly

Here's the thing though, I had a 550 rwhp Lexus IS300 with an HKS SSQV and ran it for four years without a problem. So, even if the AA releases faster it would seem it is irrelevant or the SSQV would have been inadequate on my setup. I have trouble spending $200 more for something where the cost doesn't seem to justify the benefit. |

From an purely sound driven perspective, I would never install the UR HKS kit just because I hate the sound of the HKS BOV. I am a huge fan of tial (had one on my turbo s2k), and now I have an AA BOV on my 335. Why would I pay more for the AA kit on the 335? Well, I really didn't since I bought it used, but even if that wasn't the case I would pay more for it because I like the unique sound of it (sounds like a cross between a tial and a greddy type-s), and the build quality is really great. I have never seen a pipe fit as tightly as this did. Instead of just slapping on a silicone coupler at the end of a pipe, this has a welded on flange that is an exact fit as oem, if not tighter. Also, the black piping along with the black/silver bov is the icing on the cake since it blends in well with the engine bay IMO. No, I didn't buy a BOV for its appearance, but it doesn't hurt that they didn't just send a bent piece of aluminum either. Its a quality part, and you pay a premium for it. Is it worth it over other competitors? Only you can answer that. With that said, i'm happy with mine.

I totally agree.. Again, im coming from the lexus/supra community where everything was a lot cheaper. 200 bucks for an hks downpipe for instance and about 700 for a full catback and not just the rear muffler section. After seeing the pictures of the UR bov kit, I would have to say though that the AA bov kit looks like it might be worth the buy. The pipe AA uses isnt just a standard polished aluminum pipe with a fitting for the t-map sensor. I dont know what kind of pipe AA uses but its really nice and doesnt use a coupling to mount to the throttle body. its got a flange just like the oem pipe does. Very nice construction imo. I can take some pics later if you'd like.
