Jb4 e85 logs

I'm still new to reading logs, so I wanted to start a thread to get some feedback. I will try to use this same thread for future logs as well if I need help!

2007 335i
Mods: Jb4 G5 Iso + Injen DCI

(7/14)
45% e85 + 93 oct

1) Why is my timing being pulled around 5700rpm? (IAT too high?)
2) AFRs...too lean? Should I be worried about this?
3) Are the dips to 50's and high 40's of my LPFP okay?
4) Not sure what Avg Advance is, but it starts to go up exactly when my timing is pulled. Something related to the map adaptation?

-My IAT starts about 20degrees hotter than usual because I had done some pulls prior to this log. Also, after this logging this run..map 5 wouldn't go past 15psi :/

trims are fine but you are putting lots of stress on the lpfp. go down to E30-E35. let map5 adapt. if its pulling timing it will lower boost. Not strange to have that boost without supporting mods. Get an intercooler and dps.

I was actually suggested by Terry to use more e85(?)

I logged again around 70 degrees tonight and things look better. LPFP is still struggling.

The graph type logs are miserable to look over imo, but if youre running low on LPFP PSI, I cant imagine how more E85 would help you there. It looks a bit lean early on, but im on the app so i cant look at the real log, just the graph.

I was actually using 40% e85 before which had similar lpfp numbers. My timing was dropping and I'm guessing that is the reason he wanted me to use more e85. I asked him about my lpfp, but he didn't really say anything about it..

How many miles on the LPFP? It may be tired considering it's a 2007.

67,000 assuming it was never replaced by the previous owner.

Lean. Back down on the E85, or find a way to deliver more fuel.

All I can see is power and AFR. And your AFRs are lean, bottom line. Has Terry been told how lean you're running while ramping up boost?

Got a reply from Terry.

"Fuel pressure is strong, timing is good, AFR is right where we've set
it for this E85 mixture, and boost looks good. Of course running 17psi
is more aggressive than 15psi but log looks solid to me. If you want
to limit boost for any reason just lower the boost safety setting.
Boost will never target higher than that value."

Terry knows so much more than I do on this platform, but if I saw a Cobb log with those AFRs id call that lean. Boost looks fine, but you dont clear 13 until well past 5K rpms.

Hm, I appreciate your feedback. I'll most likely go down to 30-35% e85 and only do 40% on special occasions

JB4 runs leaner than Cobb at lower rpms. From what I can tell the op has typical A/F for JB4.

Here are my AF's for various maps.

Yes. Before I went to a dyno I had beautiful 3rd gear logs with full timing from the night before. On the dyno, two consecutive 4th gear pulls lasting 17 seconds caused my IAT to reach 180F and my timing fell just like yours.

An intercooler will help a lot which is my next mod.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll be upgrading my fmic in a few months!

Weird question, if I wanted to lower my IAT between runs at a dragstrip..
could I manually spray my fmic with a bottle? just water? water/alcohol? meth?

I'm by no means a JB4 expert, but I'm not really sure what the point of adding more (than 40%) E85 would be unless you are getting timing corrections caused by knock. On top of that, I feel you're pushing the car pretty hard considering you have a stock intercooler and downpipes.

I'm not a fan of how lean the JB4 seems to run these engines, but it seems to be "normal". I would get a real tuning solution, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah I was getting timing corrections at 40% and the extra 5% seemed to fix it. Usually I just use 93 octane, but wanted to see how much I could push my car with e85. I'm planning on getting dp, fmic, and upgrade my lpfp.

Friend of mine with an Evo wanted to race me tonight, so I decided to log my runs. 30-130ish.
