Cleaning/Replacing Vanos Solenoids
When you pull them out, does oil spill out?

Just did this today.. By oil spilling out what do you mean? When Mine came out, a little bit dripped out of the solenoid, maybe two drops per then maybe three to four drops worth came out of the head. I also did this on a completely cold motor.

Nothing major should spill out of the head. It's not acting like a drain plug. But the solenoid itself does have oil passages that might leak/drip some so be ready with a rag. Hope this helps.

i just sprayed some brake cleaner. of course let it dry and shake it so you dont get that into the engine
