GTA Body Shop for No-Fault Insurance Claim
Hey guys,
My car was parked on the street and someone backed into my driver's side quarter panel. The guy owned up to it though as he came and rang the doorbell... After getting a few estimates, the other party has decided to go through insurance (most shops suggested to replace the panel). I've already gone to a few shops in the Markham area, but are there any specific recommendations now that this will be an insurance claim? On another note, I was rear-ended almost exactly 1 year ago and went to the BMW Certified shop (Excellence). No complaints with the repair and they hooked me up with a decent rental (C-class), but could always try something else. Any comments welcome as I would like to get this fixed soon. Another summer without my car... |

I have heard noting but great things about Excellence. I heard they are the Town and Country go to shop for collision repairs.
I would pick them over Street Extreme imo. Goodluck with the repair. |

as much as I like going to streetxtreme excellence is by far the best repair shop ive been to.
my nearly totalled e90 (both airbags popped, hood and front quater panels, radiator headlamps etc. crushed. engine was shifted back almost 1.5 inches) and they finished the job in 2 weeks they kept me up to date every other day even though I didn't request them to. |

I had someone hit my car while parked on the street also and like you the person wanted to go threw insurance. I ended up taking my car to Heartland B&B Collision in Mississauga (Bmw Certified) and they did an amazing job with warranty offcours. I will post someone pictures once I get a chance.
Just few words of advise, insurance companies depending who you are with can be difficult to deal with. I took my vehicle to two shops both BMW certified; one was recommend by my insurance company the other was not (Heartland B&B). This meant they would want to send an appraiser to the location to asses the damage and repairs. Both of the estimates were fairly close & provided rental cars. I ended up choosing Heartland B&B due to less wait time & boy was I glad. After I dropped off the car and appraiser was sent, I got a call from the owner that insurance company wants to put on a after market part as the vehicle is more than 3 years old (2009 328xi). I said HELL NO! And he was totally on my side. The damage required front driver side fender to be replaced. I spoke with insurance company and told them that if they throw an after market part on my vehicle it can possibly void my "10 year Rust Warranty" and I would like a signed paper saying they would cover this even if I changed insurance companies. I highly doubt this is true but something I used as leverage. Anyways the owner was great help as he ordered the after market part reassuring me "it wont fit". And once it came in, that's exactly what happened "it did not fit". An original part was ordered from Germany and car was good as new. My advise in short, if you do go with a insurance certified repair centre go to one that is BMW Certified and make sure they only use original parts. Its like pulling teeth with them. As most insurance companies will use after market parts if the vehicle is more than 3 years old. Also request an equal car from the rental company; I ended up getting G35X. Hope it helps! Sorry for the essay! |

There is no debate. The best body shop in town for bmw has to be European autobody. For one, they are the only shop in town that actually use bmw factory paint, "glasurit" line from DuPont. Pardon the spelling... Too lazy to google.

A bit late, but here's an update since everybody likes updates...
Ended up sending my car to StreetXtreme and have no complaints with the results. I believe it was a pretty standard repair (pull it out, paint/blend), so might as well keep it close to home and support a local shop. I forget the specifics, but they also mix their own paint in-house FWIW. I guess it was a good thing that I didn't go to the more expensive shops, since I later found out that my current insurance provider is pretty stingy; they were giving me a hard time over random little things. I will not post their name, but in the end it's not worth it to save a few bucks on insurance if they will be uncooperative when you need to file a claim. I will likely be switching back to Monnex come renewal time. Anyway, drive safe and park in safe spots. It's been an interesting experience, but it's not worth the hassle. |
