My 335d is loving the hot weather :)

My 335d's fuel consumption keeps getting better and better.

Just averaged 42mpg over the last tank full, with AC on everyday, mixed driving. Since the temps have been going higher my mpg has gone up !

Happy days

sounds like your loving it! wish all mpg went up with weather, I guess its also the fact that start up and warming the engine up time has been reduced so that the engine runs its most efficient sooner too

Wouldn't the warmer temps mean that the engine was less efficient? Air not as dense, intercooler not as effective?!?

No, warmer weather always makes cars more efficient as they run to temperature quicker.

Air isn't as dense so to keep the air/fuel ratio correct, you use less fuel too.

You get more power when it is cold though.

I got 44MGP out of mine this week too...hotter the weather the better MPG, love the cold weather too. As colder air equals more power

Interesting, I knew cars were faster in cool air but never realised they were more efficent. I assumed air con would offset any gains....

Will be interested to see my returns on the i

Correct.

The engine might get to running temperature sooner and help fuel efficiency. but it won't produce as much power as a cold dry day.

The i runs better too! Oil is coming off the 70 after a few minutes and that has massive consumption implications when you are sitting at lights or driving slowly around town. It likes to run rich when cold!

I hadn't even thought about it, but having just checked my 335d I know it was reading 36.2mpg last week and it's currently reading 37.4mpg. Will keep an eye on it and see if it rises further.

I consistently get around 490-520 per tank.

Burned 2 tanks last week as I went on a wee holiday down to Englandshire, averaged just under 37 mpg. But then again, about 800-850 miles of that was done at 90+ so not too bad.

Fuelly puts them tanks at 36.7 and 37.0 mpg.

My current tank is reading 37.1 mpg, but it reads low, so I am expecting around 38 mpg from this one.

To be honest though, looking at my history, you don't really see much variation due to temperature. It basically hovers around 37-38 mpg pretty consistently.

I was over the moon when I got my 40 mpg tank though, lol. Ideally I was hoping for that to be more consistent.

Since my DPF delete, remap and exhaust my consumption has improved from a religious 35/36mpg to 42/44 every tankful. Same driving, same roads, just warmer weather and fewer parts
