Ran over a cat...
Any experience...?
I just feel kinda guilty right now.... what do you do afterwards? Find the owner or just leave it as is...?  |

Find a cat that looks just like the one you ran over, find the owner, and give it to her.

You know, in a few decades, Darwin will make sure cats don't run in front of cars anymore.
For now, if you really feel guilty, give $100 or so to an animal sanctuary or something. |

i once ran over a rabbit late at night... i stopped for it and assumed it had ran off... but once i moved ahead i heard a nasty crunch...

I believe in California, it's only illegal for you to run over a dog and leave it as is, but OK for cats and smaller animals. Not that in matters for you since you're in Canada, but I thought that was a weird law.
I once ran over a cat. I was leaving my house in the early AM hours, still dark outside. I guess the poor thing slept behind the wheel so when I put the car in reverse...yeah. |

i hit a cat once. after 15 hours straight of driving a car ran in front of me on a semi-highway. the problem was that i knew whose it was because it was the only house there. i considered putting it on their porch but i guess that would have been considered taunting and we all know thats a 15 yard penalty...

The cat just didn't have any more lives left. At least it didn't suffer a slow death, right?

You should not feel guilty. In fact, I tell my daughters to make sure not to swerve in a dangerous way to avoid an animal on the road because this is often the cause for a human fatality. If you own a cat and let it go outdoors this is a risk you take - it is not a drivers problem. And I am a veterinarian and love and own cats.

I hit a cat once years ago. I stopped, but could not find it. I think the cat was not killed (at least right away) and walked off the road. It was impossible to figure out the owner. It was a horrible feeling when I went over it. It haunted me for a long time.
