Measuring Wheel Well for Fitment?

I tried searching and couldn't come up with a conclusive answer.

Is there a method I can use to measure how much space I have in my front and rear with my current setup so that the relative numbers from the wheel calculator will tell me what I can and cannot fit?

Not sure if that is clear, but here is my specific example:
- Car: 2011 e92 335i xDrive, sports package (for xi means standard suspension though, I think?)
- Current: OEM 17" Style 340 with 225/45/17 tires. I believe the rims are 17x8.0 et 34 all around.
- New rims: 19x8.5 et 29
- New tires: I'd like to go 245/35/19 if there will be zero issues

The wheel calculator tells me:
- Suspension: Package is 5 mm (0.2'') closer to suspension/brakes components.
- Fenders: Package will stick out 15 mm (0.6'') farther.
- Wheel wells: Will fill out the wheelwell by extra 11 mm.

My thinking is that I can make sense out of what the wheel calculator tells me by going to measure my current setup to see what kind of space I have. How do I do this properly? Mostly, I need some guidance for measuring the front. Do I put my wheels in full lock left and right and seeing how close it comes to my wheel wells?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

The best way to check the clearance for everything would be to get your hands dirty and take some measurements yourself, since every car is going to vary a little bit. You can turn your wheels full lock and see how much clearance there is with the stock wheels and kind of go from there.

Usually you can gauge how things will fit if you know your current wheel specs to compare to the new ones. I don't think you'll have much of an issue with 19x8.5 ET29, but those tires are a little bigger than I'd recommend.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm totally prepared to get my hands dirty. I'm hoping to benefit from some experience of where clearance is usually an issue. I turned the wheels to lock and saw that theres a few fingers worth of gap with the wheel well. I'll get my tape measure next time. Where else should I measure?

I'd measure strut to tire, tire to fender, measure the clearance all around the tire at full lock, etc.

Strut clearance is fine. At lock I have about 20-25mm of space around the wheel well.

sqrt( 15^2 + 11^2 ) = 18.6mm for 245/35
sqrt( 15^2 + 11^2 ) = 12.2mm for 235/35

Probably best to stick with 235?

Yes. I meant that I have sports package but the suspension on xdrive sports suspension is the same as standard xdrive suspension which is comparable to stock suspension on a RWD e92.
