E92 angel eyes
Hey all,
I changed my stock pre lci angel eyes to to LED ones from MStyle about 4 months ago. about a week ago the dash warning came on and i discovered that the drivers side angel eye light was not working. i had a look through today to see if it was the LED lights or the resistor, well the bulbs when swapped over on to the passenger side worked, so i gathered it was the resistor. However when i put a normal H8 bulb that too did not work :/ confused. any ideas? Thanks |

Have you checked to see if the loom that connects to the back of the bulb is ok? (cable condition and pin condition?). Also might be worthwhile checking the big connector on that headlight to ensure that its pushed home correctly.

would disconnecting the battery cause any problems, like the remap and any coding, including the stereo pin? |

If the battery reset doesn't resolve it, it might be worth getting a multimeter on the connection pins to see if power is actually getting through. If it isn't it may point to faulty/damaged wiring within the light unit.

Gd luck with sorting this mate, hopefully see you soon...
Definitely try reset the footwell module by unplugging the battery first |

Hey all, I've reset the footwell module as instructed and still no joy. I think it's the wiring, but not sure how to sort it out, perhaps a trip to a garage might be needed

Get a multimeter, pull out the bulb and check across the two pins for voltage with the lights turned on.If none present then I suspect it could be an issue with the FRM.Its quite rare for a wiring issue for this type of fault. Also
Worth checking at the corresponding fuse for voltage also to determine a wiring issue. If there's voltage present there but not at bulb then indeed there must be an issue Kris |

Use mutimeter and if there is no voltage or less voltage, you had a short circuit which made the FRM faulty. FRM reset / or FRM change should do the job.

Not entirely sure how you can do it without diagnostic gear mate, I thought a power reset would do it.With BMW gear you can reset individual control units.I know some control units have counters in them for faults where as if a certain fault occurs repeatedly it shuts down a circuit or flags a warning light etc

No probs hope it's just something simple.Worst case scenario is FRM replacement plus programming.I can't recall how much they are but £180 springs to mind...!

If you have access to a multimeter it may be worth removing the big connector at the back of the headlight, turn the lights on and check for power going through the pins. If there is then that would rule out the FRM being faulty and point to the internal headlight loom (I say this because its happened to 1 Series I know but this was the headlight bulb, as opposed to the angel eye H8).
If it points to the FRM maybe look at getting a coder to write the module back to factory settings via the OBD before shelling out on a new FRM module. Last edited by bmwak; 08-03-2013 at 04:31 AM.. |

OP's life would be a lot easier if he just check the terminals of the connector going to Halo rings. More specific and more sensitive test IMHO. +1 on checking it first before buying / replacing the FRM. And just to correct, resetting the FRM back to stock would not help usually in such cases.
