buying TPMS sensors

Is there a good site to buy TPMS sensor? I have iforge daytona's ordered. In order to use the stock TPMS, do i need to take of the tires? What did you guys do or recommend. I also ordered the TPMS adapters from modcity

The sensors are inside the tires, so you would need to either take the OEM tires off or cut a big hole in each one to get the sensor out. I think you can buy sensors from Tire Rack for about $200 for the four. If you want to keep the OEM wheels/tires intact for sale or future use, then a new set of sensors seems like the sensible (sorry) thing.

I love that the 06 E90's did not have the sensors in the tires but in the the car itself....BMW probably did this to make a good bit more money on if you have to get new tires and or something else

I just ordered a set of OEM TPMS from Tischer BMW today. Came out to $199 plus shipping.

Part #'s are:
Valves: 36111095375 list 12.85 each, online 10.28 each
Modules: 36236779490 list 45.55 each, online 36.44 each

I know these are compatible with CSL's but no clue on the iforge. You can also use your existing TPMS as long as they work with the wheel. Lots of threads on this btw. Now I just need to figure out the best way to paint these black to match the CSL's.

$200 is actually a good price for OEM TPMS, most other shops were asking $250 or more. Aftermarket may be cheaper though I prefer to stick with OEM when I can. Just my preference..

If you don't use them, you wouldn't get the air pressure monitoring for your tires and a warning light pop up. Not the end of the world but I know that light or whatever warning would drive me nutz unless it can be disabled.

We're currently at $46 per sensor inclding stem. Around $192 for a set shipped to most of the USA.

Call me if you'd like to get a set on their way.

You get an annoying beep for 2 mins and a constant warning on the dash. Or you can pay the dealership an hours worth of labor to disable the sensors in the car. I started a thread on this.

Probably the easiest purchase I ever made, thanks Gary . Its just worth it to get them and put them on since youll have an easier time selling your wheels in the end with them already on there.

If you buy the sensors from Gary they come with everything you need. Sensors and TPMS specific valvestems.

I just picked up a set of winter wheels, Style 161 17". I plan to get Blizzak LM-22 tires.

I need to TPM's for these as they are a spare set I just want to swap on and off for the winter.

Does the TPM have to be BMW's style to fit these BMW style 161 wheels or will the ones from Tirerack work?

My car does have TPM's on the original wheels and this is verified by the valve cap that actually says "TPM inside! Reset TPM".

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Gary,

Thanks for the response.

Do you know or should I call my BMW center to see if these will fit the style 161 wheels?

I can only assume they do. Let me know and I can have my order for TPM's and tires placed today if the TPM's will work on these wheels.

Thanks

Is it really necessary to reset the TPMS when you install new tires? Im pretty sure Ill know I have a loss of pressure before the car will. Just yesterday I knew I was a couple lbs low in my left front just by driving it(confirmed by gauge when stopped). Nothing on the dash alerted me to it.

thanks,
I don't do PMs, but with shipping they should be around $192. Just give me a call should you wish to order a set.

you know what i was thinking, i wonder what the car's computer or the oem BMW sensors are set up to think is considered low pressure. Make sense? Like in relation to what do the sensors trigger, becuase each tire/wheel setup has different air pressure amounts. So for instance, if i were to install TPMS sensors in my wheels which are set to something like 41lbs in the rear and 38lbs in the front and they're 20" wheels with unltra low profile tires, what would the tpms do then?
