Bought a 335i
Hi all,
New member here, just bought a 2007 335i SE Coupe. Can't wait to get my hands on the car when I pick it up next week, have already been planning various upgrades to it main area of attack is the inside, going to attempt to plastidip the usual worn out parts on the cabin, also will detail the cars outside to give it a showroom shine Edit - just realised I should have put this in the noobs section - oops Last edited by Banners24b; 08-06-2013 at 08:51 AM.. Steering wheel corners peeling, drivers side "door pull", passenger side inside door handle and cup holder rubber, apparently older e92's all suffer from this

What mileage is it on? I have a 2007 se and don't have any of those 'warn out' problems. I'm on 57k.

75k, All the other ones I looked at of the same age/milage seemed to suffer from at least one of the probs, other than a 2009 plate on 40k but that was 15k! If you Google "e92 door handle peel" a ton of threads come up.

Nice choice of car. Have you thought about getting bits carbon wrapped?
I did all my brushed aluminium trim and the steering wheel trim. Very pleased with the results Jon |

Have thought about it, will poss go for it pending the outcome of the plastidip. Not a huge carbonfibre fan though. but anything is better than peeling rubber.

Welcome!
I picked myself up an e92 a few weeks back, similar age. Definitely suffering from the steering wheel peel, so will be following your progress on that front! Blues - you got any pics of your Carbon interior? I looked at getting my steering done, but the pics I saw didn't do it justice, so wasn't sure whether to take the plunge |

Cheers! Do you find it darkens the interior? Whilst not a great look the brushed alu lightens up an otherwise dark interior. I like you have black leather, darkening the trim would probably close it in too much for me.
Last 3 series I had had cream leather, am still getting used to the darker interior! |

Welcome!! you won't regret it. For starters if you have a auto, do search around about the alpina gearbox flash.. inexpensive mod that changes the car so much..then add a tune..this will be your best all rounder car you ever had!!

First thing you should do is throw in a JB4. The difference is night and day. Then go see Makkan and flash the auto box. (If its an auto) Then find yourself some catless downpipes and allow it to breath properly. Once all this is done you wont care what the steering wheel looks like. The world outside will be going by so fast, you wont have time to look inside.

Hmmm not really into modding, only drive about 2000 miles a year so 1k on a JB4 and downpipes prob won't offer me much value.
the gearbox flash sounds interesting though, how much is that £50 or so? |

Anyway, why did you go for a 335i out of curiosity? |

Iam all for cosmetic mods, suttle ones mind.
I was very nearly going to go for a 325 or 330, but figured I drive so few miles each year the miles I do may aswell put a smile of my face as the running costs won't be that much higher. And after a driving a 335i I know anything slower would have had me always wishing i'd got the 335i. Put it this way, Iam never going to test drive an M3 because I'd get a taster of what I can't afford but want. |
