Hi Guys,

Just got my 13 335 xi and there's something that's been really bothersome to me:

I have to do parking (parallel) on hills quite often due to the geographic location of the town and whenever I engage the car into reverse, it feels like it would always take the car 1 sec or so to be actually in reverse; what's worse is that, even when the slope is not that steep, the car actually slips forward and for several times it almost hit the car in front of me. I have driven the Lexus IS AWD and X5, none of them experience this problem (ie if the car is sitting on the hill, you could pratically let of the brake and the car stands still). So I was just wondering if BMW puts majority of the power upon rear wheels and only a tiny bit on the front 2.

I also don't want to use the hill assist function because sometimes I let off the brake during downhill and it just keeps interfering with the system.

Any advice?

I have never seen any delays going into reverse, so maybe you have a problem with yours. As for holding on a hill, I guess that depends on how big the hill is.

BMW has our cars setup for 60% power in the rear and 40% in the front until the system senses the need to re-distribute the power. Anyways this should not have any effect on what you are seeing.

If it were me I'd bring the car to your favorite dealer and explain what you're experiencing.

I'm assuming you have an AT? manual trans have that hill holding feature, i'm surprised AT's dont.

automatic transmissions do have hill assist

You are posting in the wrong forum if you have a '13 and why don't you just keep your foot on the brake? Hill start only works in forward gears correct?

Hill assist ftw. But in that case I'd do left foot on the brake and load the gas pedal lightly until I feel the engine trying to pull, then let off the brake. Or use ur e brake. How steep are the hills u're referring to.
