Anyone Else Disappointed With 335D reliability???

I have a 2010 335D I bought with 32K miles on it last November....I have 45K miles now....thank god its CPO.

1. some sensor near exhaust broken and car wouldnt even start. Had to get it towed to dealer. 2 days at dealer.

2. SES light goes off on my way home from repair above. They screwed up alignment of steering column. Not cars fault so human error. Day at dealer.

3. oil change and other routine stuff(no big deal part of usual maintenance)

4. Urea needs replacement(no biggy usual maintenance)

5. SES light on...knock sensors on exhaust bad, replaced but still a problem, they replace catalytic converter...at dealer for 7 days!

And there are few other ones I cant remember...needless to say , I am getting a loaner from them monthly.

I have had 6 other BMW's in the past and have never had so many things go wrong.

Just waiting for the carbon buildup issues to come...if I get another issue come up within next 4 months, probably going to sell the car and perhaps get a Tesla....but I do really like this car when running properly.

I dunno why you guys in the states having so much trouble with your D
Us in Canada don't have these issues at all!!!
I know 3 friend if mine who owns 335d plus me! We, together totaled over 500000km and still, none of us have any problems at all!
My buddy is a chief mechanic at a BMW dealer and he state that no diesel have issue with injectors or carbon build up!
I have over 120000km on my D
They removed the head not do long ago because I fear I had carbon build up and there was no carbon at all .... I guess you guys have very very very bad fuel compare to us who have 50+cetane fuel at shell and petro canada (46)
Anyway my D have no problem what so ever and I drive it a lot ....
Sorry for you neighbor ... Come to Canada and try our fuel

51k miles and no problems whatsoever. Car is rock solid for me.

Perhaps your car had a tune at some point. I dunno.

Most of the items you mentioned are Emissions related. Every high end BMW have their share of problems; SMG transmission, injectors, fuel pump, carbon build up, rod bearings, etc.

Before 2016 comes around, either I will sell with CPO or start removing emissions components from the car.

I was thinking of upgrading to one, but I'm not quite sure after reading all this. I know that the minority with issues will complain / look for solutions and post, but it would suck having to pay 10G out of pocket for an issue of a higher mile one.

I've had the car for 2 years now and the only issue I'm experiencing is that my CIC might crap out at any moment.

Dear SOCOM...

Mini Cooper S (Built by BMW) - first major repair, turbo at 57,000. Second issue, faulty electrical in light indicator 69,000.

08 328i convertible - First major repair, replaced radiator at 53,000.

09 335d - CBU @ 56,000 miles.

I am really glad you have been covered while paying your 5,000 bmw premium for warranty and service, but please note BMW's are like iphones. Things go wrong when your warranty is over and there are new models to be bought.

Frankly Speaking my Old MCS had one major problem and it was the MAF that went bad , the cause? Oiled air filter messed it up ,fixed under a buddy who said warranty was voided due to oil from air filter but fixed for me for $50 under the table after that no major issues i changed the temp valve for 180 degree one and had the air scoop enlarged so more air came in and the faulty sensor that is integrated in the radiator and usually drains your battery out never came back on!! after those changes!!

33k miles... I had a squealing A/C belt, and the EGR recall about 10k miles ago.

hes saying 51k miles is before the issues are going to start, I guess

62k miles here, nav was replaced under warranty when the car has under 10k miles. Other than that, nothing. Carbon build up wont be an issue for quite a while either

Mine needed: NOx sensor, DPF, electronic vacuum actuator
I'm guessing the work would have cost $4k US if out of warranty and my car only has 33k miles on it right now, but I'm hoping to keep it until at least 100k

and to answer the question, yes I am disappointed in the car reliability. I would have thought it wouldnt need so many dealer visits, as I'm up to about once a month for this and that.

Joe I tend to differ w/u its PARTS reliability and the LACK of BMWoA to accept there is a pending issue with our cars and NOT the X5d's.

The fuel does not explain why one injector failed after 10 miles, on my way home from the dealer. Also, all the failures are for injector #2 and #4. The same fuel are going to all injectors.

DDE failure probably does even though BMW hasnt really admitted that is the problem yet. There was a bulletin though suggesting they might be onto the causes of DDE failure

76 is "good" here in CA also. At first I though that the 76 I fill up at was not so good because I was only getting 32-33 MPG mixed, but then I took some drives on flat highway where I was getting much closer to 40 MPG at 70 MPH and came to the conclusion that the diesel is good, its my hilly drive to work that is bad.
