HUGE pothole stabbed tire and scraped rim
anybody else ever went over a pothole that ripped off a chunk of the tire and fucked up the rim? Im here in LA and on friday night i went under the Hyperion Bridge here in Los Angeles and the pothole was invisible due to lack of street lighting. I felt the impact and i thought my rim cracked for sure. I got home and saw a chunk of rubber hanging off the tire and the rim is deeply scraped with a length of 3 inches on the tip. I definitely need a new tire since these tires are already low profile as they can get.
I am planning on calling my lawyer tomorrow morning to have the city pay for a new tire and fix the rim. Has anybody else gone through a similar situation like this with the city? What was the outcome? 2011 e92 coupe M sport 19inch upgraded OEM rims Bridgestone RFT |

Unfortunately this has definitely happened to other people while driving. At least your wheel didn't completely shatter into a bunch of pieces.
If you know where the pothole is, document it with plenty of photos and report it to the city. I have heard of people getting payment for things like this, but don't know exactly what's involved.

I am sure alot of people went through what i did. I just dont know anyone that successfully got help from the city since it is their fault. Especially the hole i got into you cant miss it. its 6 inches deep. I took over a dozen pictures and several videos of other cars getting their rims damaged while passing through. I filled out the claims form and sent it with pictures and the amount that the dealer gave me to replace the rim and tire. The rim and tire have to be replaced because of the depth of damage on the tire and rim.

Wow 6" deep is pretty bad. If you sent in all that footage, you should have a pretty good case against the city for that crater in the ground. Hopefully they offer to help you out!

Ya i hope so. I sent 9 pictures with the form and a nice sketch on the map where it happened. I got the 19inch rims. I think it was a 1900.00 upgrade from the 18 M sport rims.
