Shocks or Springs shot?
Stock height of 07 328i e92?
Trying to figure out if my springs or shocks may be blown or just weakened over time. If any of you have these stockers maybe you could enlighten me.. OEM 157 wheels 225/45/17 Contipro contacts squared. From ground to highest part of outside fender wall arch the front measures 26" even the rear measures 25 3/8" The car looks low to me when looking at other oem 328i's Any help would be appreciated! ![]() ![]() |

I have the same tires, but I have an xi so I'm going to be significantly higher than you, otherwise I'd measure. However, shocks have little to no effect on ride height, springs do. A 2007 should not experience spring sag, and I've actually never seen any BMW suffer from spring sag. Weak/sagging springs were very common in the rear of X300 series Jaguars. Fords also experienced a lot of broken springs on older Tauruses and Contours.
Did you buy the car second hand? Maybe the previous owner removed the reinforcement plates in the front to lower it slightly. Either which way, ride height is not a good indicator to use to diagnose blown shocks or weak springs. However, if you have a 2007 and are on the original suspension, then you're overdue for a suspension overhaul anyway. I have a 2007 as well with 82k on it, and I see coilovers in the near future |
