I keep reading how soft non rft's feel due to the more flexible sidewall. I don't necessarily want to give up the sharpness of the steering response, are there non rft's that have stiff sidewalls and the same responsiveness? What would you guys recommend.

Many people are very happy with the Mich Pilot Super Sports. Check out the test results of this tire on Tire Rack and you'll get a sense of the dry cornering responsiveness compared to the other non RFT's tested. If I recall, it was the best.
Don't forget to add allowance for an emergency tire refill kit and pump. The Continental kit is good, you can also get a complete Slime kit at Walmart for under $50 if I remember. It contains sealant and a compressor. I put one of those in the FX35 even though it has a spare. It's the wife's car and she can use this instead of the jack and spare if necessary. |
