Open flash for N52s!!!

Good news! The recently released free open flash software works for the N52! It lets you use a Bavarian Technic cable to read/write tuning directly to the ECU through the OBDII port. BMS is working on collecting N52 BINs to work on free flash tunes for N52s so if anyone happens to have a BT cable and wants to help out the software and directions are posted on their site. Use it to read out your BIN then email it in or post it.

Wait so the tablet is no longer required? Can you use a dcan cable instead of BT?

I do have N52 and BT cable, but I don't know how to read the BINs. Can you please show me how to read it from BT, so I can send it out?

I'm pretty interested in this as well. I can't seem to find a place where we can download actual tunes to load, but it's not as if I'm planning on doing this anytime soon. It's definitely interesting because of the relatively low cost and ease.

Sounds nice but for those who don't have the cable, the open flash seems like a good option still. There is support, its portable, temporarily vin locked only, and may be easier to work with. Latter point is just an assumption. I'd still like to see this flourish though. For those with a cable and some skills, this sounds promising.

Finally went and ordered the BT cable. It took a while to read out my bin, but otherwise I am quite impressed with the BB flash tool.

Bin is from my 09 328i with the N51. The whole car got updated at the dealership last August with integration level E89X-13-07-503. I opened up the bin with a hex editor and replaced the 2 locations containing the last 7 of my vin with "A123456".
