Gladen / Mosconi upgrade; tweets, mids, subs and aftermarket amp

Hello guys,

Yes another thread of doing an audio upgrade but that's what this is for right!

So I've did a lot and I mean a LOT of homework to see what upgrade will fit my expectations.

Current
- BMW E90 330D 2006
- OEM Hifi system
- 4 mids (front doors and rear deck)
- 2 tweeters (front)
- 2 underseat subwoofers
- Hifi amp (6ch)
- Idrive CCC professional
- OEM Park Distance Control
- OEM Telephone module

Wanted
- Audio System x-ion 200 BMW (front compo + passive crossover and underseat sub's)
- JL Audio XD600/6
- Technics harness

OPTIONAL
- Audio System CO 100 BMW

My OEM HU is already qualified for the upgrade since it's a Hifi.

Questions

1. What do you guys think of the wanted (/optional) setup? Do you have better suggestions in the same price range? (This will be a total of €675)

2. Has anyone experienced the sound of this setup? I read about people who installed it but not if they were satisfied. I know there is some information on German forums but what do you guys think?

I'm look to get a complete set like this, but it can't cost me more then €675.

Sorry if things weren't explained right in english but I'm from Holland.

When I start with the upgrade I'll provide this thread with some nice install pic's!

Many thanks in advance.

John

Forgot one thing...

The reason I mentioned I have PDC en telephone is because this has to work nice after this upgrade. I red some stories about bad or no PDC sounds or even to loud!

At this moment my PDC sounds trough al speakers, not adjustable. I believe if I use the left channels combined en the right channels combined as inputsignal for the amp this would be okay?

Telephone the same question...

The addition of a Technic Harness should not be optional.

The addition of a Technic Harness or the equivalent should not be optional .

John
I've heard the audio system setup is fantastic and provides better sound Q than more expensive options... Plus is made specifically for our cars.

It's why I bought the same setup for my E90. Unfortunately mine is still in a box, waiting for installation, so I can't give you a specific review yet.

I do think it's the right way to go though.

Thanks a lot Ali for your reply!

To bad you didn't had the chance for installation. I've red several forums from the Netherlands and Germany and I THINK I'm going to buy this set because I can get it not that expensive and heard pretty good things about it.

Just want to know if someone here can give me a review. Anyway, if you install it before me I really would like to here from you!

Any thoughts about the PDC? I still want it to sound trough all speakers..

Sorry, I don't have PDC so I can't help much.
My door chimes remained after replacing HU and adding amp, but I think PDC may be wired differently.

Buy a mosconi gladen one amp with your audio system 200 and you re golden.
If you want a DSP you can buy the DSP version. The Mosconi 120.4 DSP. You ll get a powerfull amp with DSP built in. No pdc issues. You can also buy a 60.6 if you want six channels.

120.4 means four ch amp 120w rms each. 60.6 means sic ch amp 60w each.

Gladen also released a new Speaker upgrade for e9x and f3x. The Gladen Extreme 201. It is more or less the same system as the audio system, but the underseats are 2ohm versions, like the earthquakes sws 8 extremes. They will suck more power out of your amp. I am waiting for mine to arrive this week.

Thanks 335ixm!

Did you know Gladen en Audio System is the same manufacturer
I don't need the DSP, but was thinking about the JL Audio XD600/6 because I want 6 channels and it's a recommended product here AND I'll have 6 x 75W RMW @ 4ohm.
I want some back sound too..

So this also will be good with the X-ion 200 right?
The new Gladen's seem really nice but a bit too expensive for me know.

Unlike soms great reviews I decided to not go with the AS upgrade..

Next wish:

Earthquake sws8 4ohm
Compo.. Probably Focal or Jehnert
JL audio amp (xd600/6 or xd700/5)

My question
The rms power rating for a sws is 150w rms
The given power by a xd600/6 is 2x 100w rms @ 2ohm sw-channel
The given power by a xd700/5 is 1x 300w rms @ 2ohm sw-channel

Isn't it better, when we look at the powerrating, to go for a pair of sws8 4ohm and connect them parallel to the xd700/5 so they play with an impedance of 2 ohm and have 150w rms each?

The only downside is the mono instead of stereo..

So what do you guys suggest? More power or stereo underseat subsound?

Why did you decide against the AS upgrade?
I have just fitted the AS AX 08 underseat woofers (part of the AS X-Ion 200) as part of an audio upgrade and they sound great. Only £180 delivered from Germany!

I too just installed the under seat woofers only (mids and tweeters still pending installation), and I'm definitely impressed! They hit pretty low and sound clean.

I Just want to go with an more familiar system. Also I want the BEST sound possible for this small upgrade and not great sound. So I chose to go the different way.

Soms People have any thoughts about the amps I suggested?

And what amps are You using with Your AS?

I don't know first hand, but I've heard some say that the AS kit is as good if not better than upgrading to earthquakes or jenherts, with morels up front.

I'm using a 2-channel RF Punch 3002 amp to power the woofers (75x2 RMS @ 4-ohms).
As mentioned, my mids haven't been upgraded yet, so for now they are OEM base audio mids driven by an RF Punch 2002 (50x2 RMS @ 4-ohms).

Seems very Nice! The only big difference is that the AS sub's are 80w rms, am I right?
That's why I maybe want to go with the xd700/5 for the sws..

Another thing..
Why Is almost EVERYBODY going for earthquake and not for AS?

I know, I know, that doesn't say everything but it points something out I guess.

Forget about Audio System, this has been replaced by Gladen 201 BMW, with better quality material a little while back.
The Gladen 201 sounds very good with the right hardware driving them.
The XD600/6 sounds alright at best. Do yourself a favour and get something that actually sounds good, such as the Mosconi 120.4
I would recommend you to have 2 of them. Forget about the Mosconi 60.6. Not enough power.

I love to stick with one amp. I know the mosconi 60.6 isn't good enough.
That's why I wanted the xd700/5. Enough power, only one amp, good quality. Only downeffect is the mono subsound.

Anybody experienced this before?

2 Alpine PDX F4's would give you plenty of power.
