Glass scratches

can anyone recommend what can be used to remove light scratches from glass or windows?

Looked into this mate. Seems the only real way is to polish them out with a rotary and the correct pads/polish. You can go at it by hand, but apparently it'll take you an age depending on how deep the scratch is.

theres a few companys around that have all the gear and don't charge that much IIRC

He's saying you would be best armed with an electric hand polishing machine (rotary or dual action polisher) and glass cutting compounds.

You could also try by hand but it will be very hard work.

I'd personally pay a professional to do it or claim on my windscreen cover for a 'stone' chip (if its the windscreen of course

I think the best solution is a new window.

Some people crack their own windows and use the cheap (£90?) windscreen replacement that most insurance companies offer these days. I don't think that's legal but it happens.

I'm not sure how much it costs if you just go to autoglass without an insurance referral but you have to make sure they get the correct replacement with the rain sensors etc.

You need cerium oxide and rayon pads.

I used my DA polisher and it did take a bit of time and effort.

They are really good and like Kerr I've also got good things to say re Elite, but the Frosts site is worth a serious look.
