Are there some waxes that should NOT be applied with a DA buffer?

I had good results with Meguiar's DA microfiber system a few months ago. I used the compound and the wax that came with the kit.
Last week I did a typical wash with two buckets and then used the finishing pad from the Meguiar's kit with Collinite No. 476S Super Doublecoat Auto Wax. Now I am starting to notice some haze in direct sunlight that I had not noticed prior to using this combo. The finishing pad was unused and clean. Should I not have used the Collinite paste wax with that pad? Should I use only more liquid waxes with the DA microfiber finishing pad? What went wrong? ![]() |

The DA microfiber pads in general should only be used for compounding and polishing. The only reason you use the finishing pad with the wax from the Meg's kit is because the wax you are referring to is actually a polish to remove the haze from the compounding step. It just has a little bit of wax added to it. 476 is best applied by hand, as are most paste waxes. I only use my DA to compound, polish, and apply sealants or liquid waxes. For liquid waxes and sealants, use a foam finishing pad with no cut. The Microfiber pads are way too aggressive to use for applying a wax.

So will the finishing pad from the DA microfiber kit with the finishing wax from the kit be enough to correct the issue, or do I need to repeat the entire process including compounding? What foam pad do you recommend for applying liquid waxes? |

These were definitely not present before I did the Collinite and DA microfiber pad combo. |

A polish like Menzerna PF 2500 or Meg M205 will definitely take them out. You will get better result (in this case) with a foam light polishing pad than a MF pad since foam seems to finish much better than MF. After this, apply the Collinite paste wax with a foam finishing pad.

I use D300 with Optimum or B&S MF pads quite a bit to compound but I generally finish down (if needed) with a light polish such as Menzerna SF4000 on a foam pad. The D301 finishing wax just wasn't for me. I tend to apply most of my LSPs (such as Colinite 845, JetSeal, PowerLock, CG 50/50) with a PC on a foam finishing pad. I find this method to be the most efficient.
