rear bumper cutout ideas?
I'm looking at buying a rear bumper (MTEC replica) and the hole for our 335d's is a challenge. I've gone back and forth between buying OEM and buying aftermarket, but when going OEM I end up well over $1000 after paint. My current rear bumper is perfect, so that's quite a bit of cash.
With that said, I was wondering if anyone had considered a "door" similar to what we have that might be paintable and equally effective without the need of compression fitting. Think 'recessed lighting' style. Perhaps a slide-in adapter with backspacing clips that is removable every 10k miles, but otherwise holds firm and goes unnoticed. Maybe others have ideas? Cutting out the "circle" using a hole saw is easy, and sanding and prepping for paint would only take an hour at most start to finish... but what to put in that empty space is the challenge. FYI- I would want to paint the thing, so if it were plastic it would work best. Maybe a miniature round fuel door? |
