Soda blasting intake valves?

Just curious if anyone else tried soda blasting their intake valves? The quote above was posted a year or so ago.

I just came across this site: http://www.aircooledtech.com/tools-o.../soda_blaster/ and if it's similar to walnut blasting, at the price of around $10 - I thought I'd ask!

I'm assuming it's not ideal otherwise I would have seen more posts about it. My concern would be clean-up and whether the dust would be too hard to clean / vac out..

Thoughts??

I know it's ghetto but:

To stop the process from making it look like a baking soda factory exploded in your engine bay, you're still going to need the BMW adapter that allows you to blindly blast while attached to a vacuum, or at least fab something up. I would pay $5 for the humor in watching someone experiment with this in their engine bay, as long as it's not in my garage.

Not sure how well the baking soda works on the thick sludge. I have a hard time believing that it'll take the crud off as well as walnut shells but I've never tried it.

wat

Have you done an intake valve cleaning? You'd want to wash away that excess? With water? If you can't contain it, there is zero percent chance this is a good idea.

Make a baffle/block/etc and you should be fine. You still have to go through that hassle though.
