Ebay M3 Rep Bumper Painting

This is the progress of the "Ebay M3 Rep Bumper arrival" Thread.....

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=890343

Painting came out flawless I will let it cure for about 2-3 days before installing it on the car.

1) Started with the Plexus anti-static to ensure that DUST will stay away (AND IT DID)

2) Primed it, left it to dry and scuffed it to make the surface smooth.

3) Applied basecoat, 2.5, 12oz cans

4) Applied 2K Clearcoat

1.5 Hours work

Looks really good...what kind of prep work did you have to do to the bumper? I would love to try this myself, but never have...

Absolutely right....black is directly on the opposite side of white, to get this level of work with black you will need double the paint/time because you will have to stand back further making sure you don't double up/apply too much paint on a single paint area.

Before Applying the primer I thoroughly cleaned every inch of the areas to be painted with the plexus anti static cleaner like I always do

That's about it, I then applied the primer and after it dried I smoothed the primed surface with a 600 grit paper.

After all is said and done though I CANT STRETCH IT ENOUGH how important using a 2K Clearcoat is, unless you just want to touch it up quickly and you are not planning on keeping the car
