I need to fix my 'Halo' bulb that went out on my driver's side, so I guess maybe an upgrade is due and would like some recommendations .

What is your budget and preference. White 6500k, OEM yellow, feels, etc etc.

The best, but also the priciest, is getting led rings. However, that also requires you to open the headlights.

Next would be led bulbs, either M-tech or Lux. Only two worth it IMHO.

Cheapest and looks like stock would be to just buy some h8 halogen bulbs at Pep Boys.

OEM angel eye bulbs for the E90 are pretty pricey from the dealer. It's not a standard bulb so you can't just buy it anywhere.

As Kisho stated if you have the cash drop for led like lux and you can give dtec v7 a try thats is what I'm running. Both come into the 150-250$ range. Note for LEDs due to angel eye design the outer ring will be dim with any set during the day and at night its apples to oranges all look fantastic. Here's my review for the V7. Note the v7 and lux have octo led meaning 8 per bulb so brightness is higher than most 4.

Now a mid level would be 4 led brands like HPB or mtec offer good output at night but are not too noticeable during the day due to again design and are at a lower output then the ones above. Note white is harder to see during the day as well as it competes with sunlight. You can look around on the forums in the sponsor section for a set.

Last and cheapest solution is OEM halogen replacement such at GP Thunders. Offer good output at a cheap cost. Downside is bulb is not always consistent and begins to dull over time. Some contain a hint of yellow even if 6500k

So if you have the cash go with lux or dtec and you won't be disappointed.

If you just want a good replacement go to sponsor and look for a bulb that fits your price.

If you just want a different color at a cheaper cost go with GP thunders.

Others can chime in on this I'm not expert just my opinion.

He has a 2006. The angel eye bulb is different so pretty much everything you said doesn't apply.

Find the thread on this page that talks about $60 angel eyes from BMWLED. I have those and they've been great so far. Also had el cheapo $20 ones from eBay before but those kept burning out.
