Surprised by the iPhone 5 snap-in adapter
I just got round to buying the iphone 5 snap-in adapter because i was fed up of having a usb cable hanging around.
Thinking that the iphone doesn't have an external antenna connector, when I read on the product details of the 'contact-free antenna connection' I was extremely sceptical to say the least. In fact I didn't expect it to do anything at all and I really only bought it for the charging and storing facility. But to my astonishment, it really does make a significant difference. There are certain spots on the route I regularly travel where the phone signal crops out completely every time, but when the phone is in the dock I am able to have a conversation without any interruption at all. I had a snap-in adapter for my previous iphone 4 and I never noticed an improvement in reception when it was in the dock, maybe this wasn't a feature then, I don't remember. But either way I am genuinely surprised and pleased by the adapter. Just thought I would share in case anyone else is wondering if its worth the exorbitant price.... |

Sounds like a good piece of kit though a little expensive. I have a back cover on my iPhone 5, would the phone fit in the cradle with this still fitted or would I have to remove it every time?

You can't have a cover fitted, its a perfect fit around the phone. You might get away with those stick on screen protectors but no way it will go in with any case

The basic one was about £80. Still very expensive for what it is granted but worth it for me. |

Be aware if you are going for one of these that the full Media version is not released yet (expected next month) and also if you have the Apps option, video playback is not supported with iPhone 5

if I want to have as much functionality of my iphone with BMW apps, etc, do I need a snap-in adapter? or can I use a USB cable and get the same function.
