Missfiring after new plugs and intake valve cleaning.
So I just cleaned my valves with carb cleaner and seafoam. I used a brush and vacuum to clean the valves out. Not much if anything fell in the cylinders maybe a few drops.
None of the coil packs broke that I know of and I replaced the intake manifold gaskets. It fired right up no issues. Then when I am driving it sounded like a weird swoosh sound however the cowl is still off at this point Simi am not sure. As soon as I enter WOT and try enter boost the car starts sputtering. I got a check engine light and it said cylinder number six misfire. So I took the coil pack and the spark plug from cylinder number six and moved to cylinder number one. I reset the PCM via pressing the gas pedal for 30 seconds and then holding it for another 30 seconds while pressing the start stop button. I also use my OBD to scan tool to reset the code. I took it out for another drive and now I'm getting p0300, P0301, P0304. Again this only happens during wide-open throttle if I drive normally nothing happens even if I hold my RPMs in first gear at 4000 RPMs, or I drive slowly at partial throttle there's no issues. What could this problem they please help thank you!

***Update***
So I went back to the house after the car was misfiring and I removed spark plug number one and replaced it with one of my old spark plugs, then I made my way around the other side of the engine and snugged up the intake manifold bolts. As I'm snugging the bolts up I can hear a few squeaks and clicks and some of them feel like they're getting tighter and one or two of them seem like they may possibly be at the limit as they slowly turn but not getting tighter so I stopped as they seem very snug. I just took the car for a drive and she drives like a champion! So I don't know if there was an boost leak or if it was one of the plugs bad. Going to remove my old spark plug and put the new one back and see what happens.

Now it's back to square one. Rough idle with big coughs randomly!
It still won't boost without missfiring. Weird I don't get a ses light or anything now. I don't know what I have missed. I am stuck.

When you say "snugged up" are you torquing the bolts to the proper factory specs? Not sure if that is the problem but you really should be a using a torque wrench if you are going to be tearing into your engine like this.
Also, I have read that the aluminum bolts that BMW uses in places on the engine are not reusable and need to be replaced. Just some things to check... |

I agree that it sounds like the intake manifold is leaking. You can do a boost leak test to make sure.

I know that a female torx bit socket will remove the studs, should I buy new studs and nuts for the intake manifold?
Is there a certain pattern to tightening the bolts? I always tighten the middle and then work my way left and right little by little working my way outward. How do I do a boost leak check?

I had a similar issue after my plugs were changed, turned out one was defective. Good luck!

It's still misfiring I guess it's time for the old plugs to go back in

Put the old plugs in and had a misfire on cylinder #3. Put new plug in cylinder 3. No check engine light. Still sputters on WOT.
I can't enter boost. Car drives and idles like total crap. Is it possible a coil pack went bad? Or maybe that brake fluid or seafoam maybe burnt when I started it and messed with the waste gate or DV?

And how would brake fluid get into the cylinders? You said you cleaned the intake valves with carb cleaner and seafoam, no mention of brake cleaner. |

I torqued all bolts to 133 inch pounds which is 11 ft pounds. It seems that way. Anytime I am driving it seems decent until I try to enter boost and then it sputters and goes nowhere. The bolt in the center part of the j take manifold doesn't seem as tight as the rest of the bolts as I feel it's not as strong and may strip although it hasn't happened yet. Car is at the dealer as we speak. I hope they can find it.

What plugs did you replace the old ones with? I have seen on numerous occasions on the forum when people go to non-OEM replacements, the car runs like crap.
Otherwise, sounds like your coilpacks are pretty bad ( considering the intake mani isn't leaking).

Ether I have bad luck and a coil went bad at the exact moment I tried to fix valve gunk or a leak. This sucks.

Dealer put me in a loaner. They want to do a smoke and vacuum pressure test and the car has to be below 42 Celsius and its 93 Celsius so in the morning they will look at it.

Dealer said they have no leaks on the smoke test and no air leaks whatsoever.
They took it on the highway and got check engine lights. Cylinder 1,2,4 misfires and he was getting some injector combustion codes. I think he said "no combustion" he wanted to replace all my injectors and coils. That's like $1500 plus labor. What should I do?

I remember using a wreck to turn the crank pulley and by accident later that night I crank the engine while doing a gas pedal reset. It turned and knocked the wrench against the rad hose. I heard it sounded like a grind like a missed shift grind or when you start the car and its already started.
I assume this is because the wrench stopped the car from turning yet the starter was trying to and that maybe caused the teeth to grind. It was short and minor and no damage but it scared me. Could this have caused the teeth to jump and timing to go out? *UPDATE* I just installed all the new plugs and ignition coils. I took it for a test drive and its still sputters and stumbles on idle once in a while. If I mash the gas it sputters but it has a bit more go now. Not much better tho. It was driving fine for a few minutes and then it started misfiring again. Now the idle is slightly rough. The trans is shifting slightly rough also.

I believe the BMW iridium plugs are extremely fragile and I removed the old Ones after I did the intake valve cleaned and probably banged a few of them gently which in turn made them toast. Then with my bad luck most likely had a Defunct factory spark plug. So in the car started misfiring and I put the old plugs back in most likely I had damaged one of them when removing them so it didn't work for me. So when I went to put the new spark plugs back in Right after removing the manifold again I don't believe i torqued to spec which in turn gave me a slight boost leak and With the defunct factory spark plug in their gave me more misfires. Then when I found that plug replaced it however I probably still has slight boost leak so I remove the plugs again like an idiot thinking maybe it was the plugs, and when I did that almost certainly damaged another plug just enough that it went out a few days later. Either that or I had a leaky injector ruining the plugs because cylinder five Misfires and I kept replacing the plug it happened twice. Today I replaced all the injectors however even after That the car still sputtered. So I went outside after doing some research and realizing that the intake manifold bolts must be torqued to 15nm. I believe mine i had at 9nm. So I put a new spark plug in cylinder number four and retighten all the bolts and manifold much tighter than they were before. The car drives like a champion now. So basically to sum everything up I must of had two bad spark plugs last week and I ended up finding one because it was shot and the other one was on the verge. The reason they were damaged I will never know, however most likely because I had a slight boost leak in the manifold I kept removing the plugs and because they're super fragile even tapping them the wrong way will destroy them so I conclude that My problem was most likely a boost leak, and bad plugs due to the fact of me constantly removing them.
