Walked SL55 from 80-140mph and 03-04 SVT Cobra with V2

I remember when I first drove an e55, I owned a 2005 Audi S4 at the time and couldn't believe what a beast the e55 was. I hit the pedal and traffic practically stood still as I flew over 120mph...

Well I got a chance on the freeway with an SL55 (493hp/516tq?) last night, he was behind me about 2 cars but stepped on it first, I was in 3rd so I waited until he was about a car back and stepped on it ~80mph and he pulled right up next to me before it evened out, 3rd ran out, shifted to 4th, about 1 second later I started pulling away. By 140 I was about 2 cars ahead I looked SL55 up on dragtimes, stock looks like 12.6 @111mph down to 12.5 @114mph, this race surprised me even after the successfull races I posted against 600cc sport bikes.

Also got a shot to start in second gear against the supercharged 03-04 type Cobra, (390hp/390tq if I recall correctly), he counted to 3 on his fingers and we were door to door through second, door to door at first in third, i had to change lanes to pass a car and pulled ahead a bit despite the longer path i had to take, not a severe killing. I expected to pull him more although he got a jump as he was part of second gear when we started and who knows maybe he was modded, most of those guys are...

Seems so far that 4th gear is this cars greatest strength, I had 3 people in my car with 1.47 and was door to door with an RS4, hit 4th and started walking away...

All these races occured in a closed end track with professional drivers

Wow, 3-4 CL's on a SL55.

I want to believe but its just hard.

For you to pull 3-4 CL's you would have to trap around 118-120 mph in the 1/4 mile. Which I dont think anyone does yet.

yeah that's a good point, im gonna amend it to 2 but leave your quote up thus papertrailing my acknowledgment, at 140 i never consider it a great idea to look back but i can guarantee a car length between us so 2 total, 115-140 takes a lot longer in gear than you see at a track after all...

im assuming you must have procede if you supposedly stood a chance against him. I dunno, but the 335 isnt the best freeway car as it an off line the car. And going against something with close to 500 hp on the freeway is hard to believe. Oh, and since when were freeways "closed end tracks?''

I do own a 06 Sl55pp and I do have on order an 08 335i sedan. This being said I'm not necessarily loyal to Bmw or Mercedes but just to say I can appreciate both manufactures. I cannot say I have driven the 335i on my test drives very extensively but I was able to drive the car balls out, I have a relationship with the sales manager so thus I was able to drive the car without a salesperson so yes I was able to reach and pass triple digits for 3-4 miles on an open freeway. Do not get me wrong, the moment I romped on the gas of the 335i, I knew I was going to buy it but by NO means this unmodified 335i was going to get as close as 5-7 car lengths to a sl55 at sustained mid to high freeway speeds. I understand the post was regarding a v2 modified car and I'm very sure that car is much faster but to walk a 493hp, 516tq with quite good aerodynamics probably means the other guy didn't fully romp on it. To walk a sl55, a v2 335i would need to be trapping 121-123(past m6 zone). The 335i modded or not is a wonderful car nevertheless. I'm sure the v2 is wicked fast.

V2 made it a completely different car than what you experienced stock... No idea how much power but my guess is 400-410hp and 420-430tq, and the I6 definetely revs better than the Supercharged Mercedes 8, two lengths at 140mph, all i can say is what i saw and i am an honest person, too honest for my own good much of the time.

SL55's dont trap 121-123 thats the wrong AMG you'll need an SL65 or a seriously modded 55 to get that trap at best I'd expect a 116mph trap for an SL55.

maybe he just meant i would need to run in order to walk it, i saw times of 112-116 for the sl55 stock... mostly 112-114
