First time buying a BMW.. Is this a good deal for a 335xi coupe?

I sent these specs to a dealer to ask for a price:

2008 335xi Coupe
Exterior: Sparkling Graphite Metallic
Interior: Coral Red Leather / Brushed Alluminum Trim
Sport Package
Premium Package
Cold Weather Package
BMW Navigation

I got this response:

"Good afternoon. I priced the 335xi coupe with the specs you gave me and the MSRP is $50100. With coming through the internet I can split the difference with you and give you a 1500 discount off the car which brings the selling price to $48600. "

What does "i can split the difference with you" mean?

I think it is a pretty good deal for a 2008 335xi coupe. From what I've read $1000 - $1500 off MSRP seems norm.

Split the difference probably means your are roughly paying 1/2 under MSRP and he is getting 1/2 over invoice price.
