Koni Yellow Rear Shock Settings

I will be installing FK Konigsport Coilovers soon.

These include Koni Yellow shocks. Koni Yellow 8240 in the back. So for people with these, I have couple of questions regarding rear shocks:

1. Out of the box, are they set at 50% rebound stiffness? Or I have to go through calibration?

2. I will be going close to 1" lower than sport height. These FK springs which said to be similar to Eibach Sports. 18" OEM with PSS tires, M3 subframe bushings, M3 rear sway. What dampening setting would you recommend for rear? I do not track.

Thanks in advance

With BMW PS springs I tried several settings and liked 3/4 turn from soft out of 2 full turns from soft. Do you know the rear spring rates? If they're higher then maybe set them at 1 full turn from soft=50%

These are FK's. I have been told that these are identical to Eibach Sport's. I am not sure.

You'll probably have to adjust them once or twice to your liking. Try 3/4 turn from soft. You'll want more rebound damping up front but that's easy to adjust. I had a hard time finding a sweet spot for the front struts. 1.5 turns from soft felt a little too firm and 1.25 turns from soft felt too soft

I believe Eibach Sports are 148/456(lb/in)?

If those are the rates, I'd set the rear shocks at 1/2-3/4 turn from soft

I preset them for 3/4 turns from soft. I will be installing these in few days.

1. Has anyone figured out how to adjust the rear's while they are still attached to the car? Or it's impossible?

2. For front, we have that strut bracing going over the strut nut. How do you guys manage to adjust the front without taking out the strut bracing completely?

Got the coilovers installed. I started with shocks on softest setting. Car rode horrible. It was almost like there were no shocks, just springs. Handled great tho. I was tweaking and I find it weird that, the most comfortable setting is the hardest.

With ZSP springs and UUC sways (f/r), I currently have both front and rear Konis at half way between full soft and firm. Previously with Eibach springs and no UUC sways, I found 1.5 front and 1.25 to work best for me. As CVC noted above you will probably have to adjust a few times to find your likings. Good luck.

I did 1/2 from soft on all 4 corners on stock springs. then increased to 1 full turn on fronts only. that's as stiff as I'll go with stock height and stock springs. happy.

I figured out how to adjust the back shocks without completely taking out the shock from the car.

-Remove the top strut nut and the upper strut mount
-Take off the wheel
-Push down the shock spindle all the way and remove the lower top mount, metal cup, and bump stop with cover.
-Adjust now, while the bottom of the shock is still attached to the car

Worked for me couple of times so far.

When adjust the rear shocks is there a distinct min and max setting? ie) Does the shaft stop rotating when you hit the min and max settings? The instructions are very vague....

yeah, the shaft will hit a stop once you run out of adjustment.
