Hey everyone

just dropping in to say hi... i've finally managed to find an active aussie BMW forum!!

i will be collecting my AW E90 320i with innovations and m-sport pack this Sunday from Canterbury BMW. i've read that some people have had problems with customer service in the past but my wife and i had no problems with them whatsoever. the salesman even lent us his demo model to drive home over the weekend before deciding! that's as good as customer service as we'll even know i think...

anyway he's managed to give me an excellent tradein price for my 8 month old Mazda6 and so the changeover for the E90 was at the $45k mark.

i've very excited.

one question for all you more experienced owners... at the moment the m-pack comes standard with 17" rims and RFT. i think the 18" looks sick but apparently the RFT on them are shockingly firm. i was wondering if i can actually put non-RFT on the 18" m-sport rims? or are those rims desiged specifically for RFT only?

The suspension is designed around the run flats, but you can fit non runflat tyres to the wheels without drama.

people here have changed from runflats over to regular tyres without an issue

The 18" runflats are not that bad!!!!! Don't be deterred - make up your own mind when you get the car and if you think they warrant replacement you can fit non runflats to your wheels.

The ride difference between 17's and 18's on RFT is not noticable however you will notice a huge difference between the Mazda 6 and the BMW ride. The BMW is way firmer and stiffer. While the suspension has been optimised for RFT, most people wo have changed to regular tyres report the ride is not as harsh while retaining performance. If you are still deciding between 17 and 18 inch rims then take my advise and go for the 18's. In 6 months time you'll be kicking yourself. I went with the standard 17's on my M-Sport and now am looking at all my options on upgrading the wheels. (even if I did go for the 18's origionally, I'd still be looking to upgrade to 19's however the decission would have been harder to justify).

Yes ... you can put non RFT on the factory rims but do remember you have no spare wheel so an electric pump and tyre sealer kit is highly reccommended.

I am new to the forum & new to BMW. I am looking at a March/April 2008 delivery and cannot wait. This forum is fantastic. It makes me feel good to know that others are car fanatics like me. Makes me feel more normal, (everyone else thinks I am crazy!) The level of detail and information is great.

That is a good thing, you don't want them asking you for BMW's when they turn 18

Errrr No!!!!. If they want BMW's then they have to buy them on their own. My present to my children have been a Lancer to my son and last week I gave my 18 y.o daughter a brand new Mazda 2 Neo.
