Transmission
So when I first start my car in the morning, it seems like it takes a little longer to shift from 1st to second gear. I am parked on an incline, so this is going uphill on a cold start. it shifts into second, but it takes longer than if i was on level ground. I have no trans warning lights appearing. Is this normal, for the trans to take a bit longer shifting when going uphill?

Probably the synchros are dry because of the incline. You should always treat a car with extra mechanical sympathy when cold. Time for a transmission fluid change (ignore the BMW 'lifetime fill' nonsense)..?

My car has 40k miles on it, I forgot to add that. I am not getting any codes, but in general it seems like the shifts from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd are not perfectly smooth. I don't know what to do, maybe I am just being too critical and nothing is wrong...

This happens to me once in a while. I know for sure im due for a tranny fluid change since I am at 110k miles, which im planning to do asap. I am surprise you have issues at only 40k miles.

I don't think I'm having issues, I'm just super OCD at any little noise my car makes. Basically when it's cold in the morning and I go up my street, the shifts seem to take just a little longer, but once warmed up smooth as can be.
