E90 DPF regeneration

Hi All

I have had the dreaded filter warning come on. It happens 8 minutes into each drive and stays on each time. I have done a bit of reading up on this now. My first plan is to take it for a nice ealry morning motorway blast at a constant pace to start a regeneration. My question is will the car regenerate if the warning is on? or does this stop it form happening?

Thanks
Mark

I'm not too sure about the last question but make sure your engine is getting up to the correct temperature because that seems to be the biggest culprit in regen falures

Mine had the dpf warning light coming on, I took it for regular drives on the motorway and it eventually went off, that was 6 months ago and it hasn't been back on. I used to use supermarket fuel but don't any more and made sure my temps were getting high enough so fingers crossed it stays off.

Hope you get it sorted

I had the dreaded light as well, put a bottle of Forte DPF regenerator in the tank and took for a motorway run, cleared up nicely no problems since...

Thanks for the reply guys, i will start with a bottle of forte, a full tank of diesel and have a nice motorway drive (if there is such a thing these days) This has to be the cheapest way to start trying to clear the issue.

I had the same issue about 6 weeks ago... DPF light was 'intermittent' and would only come on sometimes... but after a while it started to get more frequent.

If the warning light has appeared at all, you will need to get the codes cleared before the regenration will happen... because it stays on the ECU Memory and will prevent the regenration from starting, so driving the car will just block it more.

Also when your clearing the codes its worthwhile checking to see what the cause is for it being blocked... I checked mines and it turned out i needed a new Glow Unit (£80 from ECP) as all 6 glow plugs were showing an error.

Fitted that... big long run and never came back on since.
