pretty sure its just like it sounds same engine less weight cheaper but not as classy as a 335.

a 135 with chip lsd and some coilovers would be a sick track car.

Honestly, its not out yet so why speculate. According to the 1 guys, its going to be the best thing since sliced bread. According to some 3 guys, its cheap, ugly, etc, etc, etc. Just wait for it to be released and the numbers will obviously speak for themselves. I personally think its going to be a very cool car, but not quite up to the hype thats rampant on the other board.

lOl its a jdm pocket rocket... No im just playing around its a car geared towards people my age. With a very powerful engine and whatnot. I think bmw is going to take buyers away from the 335 but hey there the corporation not me. And from what i heard its only about 200 pounds lighter with a smaller length/width so it will be a very nice track car modded. Stock though it seems very ugly and cheap.

personally, I'm happy that BMW is bringing the 1-series over.

I just think that the coupe looks a bit odd from certain angles. The rear is definitely nice though. I wish they just brought revised versions of the 3 door and 5 door cars.

1-series 3 door hatch + n45 = great driver's car

I really really wanted to like the 1-series, but I just can't.

Maybe if it weighed closer 3,000 lbs instead of 3,500, and it didn't look like the down syndrome BMW I could like it more.

i like it alot. if i do end up getting one down the line, i would definetely do some nice weight mods... lightweight hood/trunk, A/C delete, lightweight wheels/brakes... those mods would probably take off 100 lbs which is decent... add a piggyback/TBE and you would have a 400hp, 3250lb BMW. (the 135i is 3333lbs stock, which actually is PRETTY LIGHT by today's standards of cars, especially luxury cars).

the 1 is just about the same weight as the e46 3 series...... and i've driven the e46 plenty of times and i do believe it has a nice supple ride and great handling. i cannot really feel the weight in that car, and with so much power that will be in the 135i, it will be a friggen beast no doubt.

as for the looks, i really love the back.. it looks like an e46 from the rear which is great. the front is definetely a little awkward but with a slight spoiler you could make it work. with all that performance i'm really not gonna care what people see about the headlights. overall i think the lines of the car are nice, its sleek, small and smooth.

i think when people start putting rims, suspensions, brakes, tint, and some subtle body mods people's opinions of the looks of the 1 will change. i can def see the potential in it.

I really do not see the 1 being a cheep looking car, the 3 isnt that great overall interior wise either. Actually I think the 1 series looks pretty much just as good, just smaller on the inside. As far as exterior, the 335i coupe from pics and seeing it in person, seems to be more atractive to me. I think the 1 will attract people who want a bmw, but could not afford the 335i price range. I think this is great bmw is doing this, and will definately bring more people to having a bmw. I do not think that it will be a poor man's 3 series either. That's like saying the 3 series is a poor man's 5. Also 35-40k for a car is not exactly a honda price range.

i dont think that it would be any faster cuz it has a twin exhaust. the 335i might be heavier but it has a wayyyy nicer exhaust. just my opinion

style wise 335>135 hands down, but when you get to the nitty gritty performance wise I'd have to give to the 135 just because its lighter then the 335. one could only imagine what it would be like if it were to be chipped

people are acting like this car weights under 3000lbs...its only 200lbs less if even that from a 335i..that does not mean it will be doing a quarter mile a second faster than the 3 series...if anything it will be .1-.2 secs faster

I dont have to imagine. Look at a v2 chipped 335. Same damn thing, only with style. Do people really think that a 135 is going to be dramatically different from a 335 performance wise?

Link to the 135 review on 1addicts: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1862

THE CAR WEIGHS 40kg LIGHTER THAN A 335! Its way smaller and is only 88lbs less? Plus I saw the price tag on that same forum somewhere start at $32k for the 128 and $40k for a 135.

Lord, if you wanna buy it go ahead. Hell, get the convertible. Probably only 40kg lighter than a 335 convert.

I'm sure 1 series guys are going to call this review BS Because it's not praising the car 100% of the time.....get over it.

Since the car is not for sale yet, people have been throwing all kinds of numbers around. If you look at BMW's website, you'll see that the 135 is 260lbs lighter than a 335. Many magazines have said only about 100lbs, but I trust BMW. Also, many have said high $30k, but the most consistent figure is low-mid $30k. BMW themselves said that the 135 will start somewhere around the low $30k range. I know, it's hard for some 335 owners to accept. I would be one of those guys if i had a 335 since i care more about performance than looks, etc.

$40k for a loaded 1-series?

Haha! Fuck that!

Hell, $30k for that midget sized car is crazy.

how is $30k for a midget sized car crazy if it has a N54, 6pot brakes, etc.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. From a performance standpoint, it's a good deal. It will be in the same price range as an sti/evo and should perform similarly while not having the ricer image.

135 will be a nice car. Looks like it'll be a bit more performance oriented than the 335 (better brakes, lighter, bit of M work on it). Not an ugly car but I just feel the 335 is MUCH better looking exterior wise. The lines on the 3 series are amazing to me. The 1 may have a better interior though.
